Reserving discounted room for someone else?

Just wondered if this would be possible. My DS & DIL are going on a cruise next Feb. paid for by his company. They wanted to go to WDW for a couple of days before flying home but only have enough money for a value resort. Their anniversay is around that time and I was thinking I could maybe get a code and pay for their room at a moderate or delux. Is this allowed? I wouldn't use an annual pass, just a discount if they are out. Thanks for any help. So has anyone else made a reservation in your name for someone else?

You could pay for the room, but the reservation needs to be in their name, as the reservation is non-transferable.

I made a reservation for two rooms under my name and just put their names as occupants in the room. I did it with my AAA and they said I will have to pay for the rooms when we check in.

Short answer: DON'T DO IT!

Long answer: We did something similar to this. Booked an AP room for us at the Poly, couldn't get the AP rate for my BIL/SIL since they would only spring for a moderate. Booked their room at POR under a discount code for them, told my BIL/SIL to call 407-WDISNEY with the confirmation number and pay their deposit and change the address of their reservation. BIG MISTAKE. They are STILL getting *our* WDW correspondence to their address. Apparently, WDW uses Seibel as the customer relationship management (CRM) software, and between that and their reservation software they can't seem to keep the two addresses separate. The two systems are semi-integrated but not really, and they have yet to get it completely straightened out (despite literally two hours on the phone with them). This is now to the point where I'm going to ask them to take my name off their mailing list and make any new reservations in my wife's name instead.
