We are planning to go with another family in * 2011 and hopefully buy points from a DVC owner for 2 studios at * or *. If we are reserving 2 studios, can we guarantee that the studios will be either right next to each other or very close to each other? Thanks! :goodvibes

No, they can't guarantee that they will be next to each other, just make sure the person making the reservations for you requests that they be on the same floor and as close as possible. They will do the best they can.
There are no connecting studios, if that's what you were hoping for.

No, you can request they be close and these type of requests are normally met but I'd not expect it. I'd get a 2 BR.

Had a 2 bedroom savannah view and a standard studio reserved at Kidani last November and requested they be located close to one another. They were in the same section (across the hall - obviously w/ diff views) and maybe 10 doors apart. Actually a little further than we had hoped for. The stay before (on Saratoga Developer points) we had a one bedroom and a studio for 1 night and a 2 bedroom lock-off for 2 nights. Developer points covered the 2 bedroom nights and the studio night and the one bedroom was paid for by cash. The studio and 1 bedroom were in the same building but on opposite sides and on different floors. The last 2 nights the one bedroom next to the studio opened up so we were able to move there and had a 2 bedroom lock off. Both times we asked that the rooms be close by but the second situation was last minute (maybe 1.5 months ahead) so we were just happy to be there.

Two trips ago we rented points and had 3 studios at BCV. Two were on the same floor, but not together, and the 3rd was on a different floor. On our last trip we were at BWV (as owners this time) and had 2 studios. They were right next door to each other.

Just realize that sometimes close to each other to room assigners can be directly on top of each other- I have seen times when you have the same room on various floors and are considered to be very close to each toher (which obviously depends on how close to the elevators/stairs you are).

Good questions. This is the same operation as the hotel industry in general. When you book two rooms through any major hotel, they'll tell you that they can't guarantee rooms nextdoor to eachother unless you're doing an adjoining-room arrangement, but they'll make a note in your folio. 4-out-of-5 times when we have asked for rooms nearby, we've been nextdoor or across the hall.

2 SV studios booked last year at AKV-kidani. We were on the second floor about 8 rooms from each other on the same side of the floor.

I can share my own experience from 2 years ago before I purchased DVC. I had rented points at BWV and 3 days before our arrival, I sent a fax to the Room Assignor at BWV and requested our two preferred view studios be next to each other or as close as possible. The studios ended up being right next to each other. :cool1:

Stayed at SSR last Fall and made the same request. Checked in and found our studios were not next to each other because the set up in that particular building did not have studios next to each other, they staggered the studios in between 1 and 2 BR units. Not sure if all of SSR is like that, but our building was.

Stayed at AKV in the fall as well with the same request and we were on the same floor, but there were several units between my daughter's studio and mine. They were close to the lobby and the laundry room. I was down the hall, but nearer the elevator to the parking garage. They could have moved me a little closer in 2 days, but since I hate packing and unpacking in the same trip, I chose to stay where I was. Once again, was told that AKV had the same type set up as SSR -- studios between 1 and 2 BR units.

DVC resorts don't accept faxes, so you won't want to send any faxes any more. Just add the request to your reservation.
