Anyone book a room for several extra days and just do "express checkout"? For example, book a value resort for 7 nights in order to get extra meal credits but only stay at WDW for 5 nights? :cool1:

I can't imagine booking a stay, then NOT staying. It's sad enough to leave on our check-out day, let alone 2 days before what we payed for.

I couldn't do it. As the other poster said I couldn't imagine just to get more dining credits, that I would waster $$ and the knowing of that room sitting while I am back at home . JMO

That seems ridiculous.

You'd be paying rack-rate for the unused nights, which is kind of silly to pay all that 'extra' for meal credits. It'd be cheaper to just pay out of pocket for whatever extra food you wanted.

So you mean that even if you checkout early you have to pay for the rest of the nights. As far as I know, almost all hotels/motels allow that, and the maximum penalty is that you pay for 1 extra night than you actually stayed.

No, I mean actually keep the room the extra two days by not checking out when leaving Orlando... You can call the front desk for express checkout from home.

Depends on one's dining plans and how many are in the room. Check out menu prices and consider 4 "adults" at a value resort... ;)

actually this is similar to the posters who booked a room at a value for free dining but actually rent points to stay dvc... it makes perfect sense, imo...

the cost of the room is less than the cost of the meals (even for our family of 3A/1C)... and if we wanted extra credits, this is one smart way to get them...

now i'm wondering if it would pay to add that extra night, not stay, but get the credits to go to SoA... esp since our flight is not 'til dinnertime, we'd have a chance to regroup, change our clothes, etc and not have to check our luggage w/luggage svcs in the a.m. and scramble before heading to the airport... hmmmmmm... gotta do the math...

thanks to the op for the good idea :)

I don't see why you couldn't do that. If you could make use of the extra meal credits, it makes sense. Especially if you're booking a room at a value resort.

We actually do the opposite. If we're going for 6 days, we book two reservations. One 5 night reservation, with the dining plan and then a single night room-only reservation. This gives us 5 days of the dining plan and 6 days to use the credits. DS5 doesn't eat a whole lot, so the 5 days of counter service credits usually last us 6 days.

Dining credits expire at midnight the night you check out. So you'd have to leave your room, but not check out.

Don't worry...I think the OP has got everything figured out.

This is very similar to a thread awhile ago about a family that was actually staying off-site in a really cheap condo but were trying to figure out if they could make a ressie at Ft. Wilderness for a MYW package that included the DDP. For them, even with paying for other accommodations it would still be a great deal to be able to utilize the DDP.

All I can say is that I'm just glad all this pulsating brain power is being used by Mouse-Lovers...not terrorists. See, that's why they'll never beat us -- we have our priorities straight! :teeth:

Ok tell me if this makes sense,

Since you are leaving early and will be using up the "extra" dining credits by that time, why not just checkout when you leave? What is Disney going to do... the most is that they will have to fine you for early checkout, but you will probably still qualify for at least some discount. And there is no way they can hit you with additional charges just because you used up the dining credits associated with the days you didn't stay... you paid for the dining, they just won't refund that part.
