Reserve online now, applying discounts later?

I am thinking of booking my hotel for June 05 using Disney's online reservations now. If you book online, can you still call later and apply discounts that are offered by Disney or simply a AAA discount? I am not in AAA now, but will join if I miss out on any discounts as the time gets closer. I know you can apply discounts later to reservations previously made by telephone, but wasn't sure if a reservation booked online would be any different.

I did that for a trip last summer but it caused a whole lot of stress. I booked online but I wanted to apply an AP rate when those came out. The CM I spoke to (after being transfered a few times and put on hold forever ) told me that I would have to incur a cancellation penalty so I wouldn't be saving any money. When I booked online there was a 45 day cancellation policy and the AP rates came out a few weeks before my trip. I called again the next day and spoke to a new CM (after being transfered a few times and put on hold forever) who gave me the AP rate (I think he cancelled my old reservation without any penalties).

Now I definately book over the phone if I want to try for a discount later.

Thanks, princess! I'll definitely book over the phone. Was just wanting to save myself (and their operators) a little time, but sounds like it's more trouble in the long run.

I will never book online again unless they are offering the discount I want at the site itself. I tried to reserve online and apply the discount later and it didn't work that way in June of this year. Maybe they've changed it by now, but I doubt it.

Online reservations have a 45 day cancellation penalty, like a package. If you book room only over the phone, it's only 5 days.
