Reserve now or wait?

Looking for some opinions on whether to book now or wait for the (Possible) resort discount. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't book a room until Disney releases their typical discount that includes the time frame that I want to go but now with Covid and the changes in capacity, some resorts not being open, the 50th anniversary, I'm starting to wonder if I should book now. I am set on staying at the Yacht Club, although my 2nd choice would be Boardwalk Inn but we don't know when that will open. We went ahead and purchased our plane tickets so our days are sort of locked in (unless we change the flight) because we found a good price on tickets. I'd be surprised if a discount didn't happen for the beginning of February, but also there may not be much availability or resort choices if it does happen. I'm leaning towards booking without the discount and just dealing rebooking if a discount applies to our dates/room type just to make sure we have two rooms.

Also, if booking a package, is the deposit still $200.00?

Any advise is appreciated!

Thanks!

You don't need to rebook if a discount comes out. Just call Disney and they'll apply it to your package.

And yes, the deposit is $200, completely refundable up to 30 days out.

If you are set on staying at YC, I would book now. Pre-covid, we would go multiple times a year and I was usually able to find rooms in our preferred resorts. I just started poking around and booked two trips for this year and, boy, it's slim pickings. My dates were flexible, so I just kept switching dates around to get the resorts I wanted, but if I had to go a certain week, I would have been out of luck. If YC is showing availability for the week you are going now, I would snag it. You can always adjust if a discount is released and YC is in the discount inventory. Yes, if you book a room + tickets package, the deposit is $200.

FWIW Booking now will not help you get one of the discounted rooms, if/when a discount is announced. There are limited rooms at each resort/room category. If you would for sure not stay at the room at the current rate, I'd book a room/resort you would stay at and then if the preferred resort does announce a discount then book that (it takes seconds to book a room online - far faster than calling WDW to apply a discount when its a popular discount - e.g., free dining....)
