Good Morning! We are heading to Disney in November. We are hoping for the free dining. However, if we do not get the free dining we are planning on not taking the Disney Dining Plan. I figured it out and it would benefit us not to take it. My question is at 180 days out regardless I want to make reservations for some table service meals. Can I do make reservations even if I am not taking the Dining Plan and can I link those reservations to my Disney account. Thank you all in advance for helping me! Have a Magical Day!!

ADR does not take in for if you have the plan or not- WHen you are checking in the hostess will ask you and your server will ask.
IF your meal is prepaid like CRT then you call and tell them you have the dining plan. You make your reservations using MDE and it will automatic link to your account. IF you call you will be given a confirmation number which you put into your MDE to register your dining

You don't have to call and tell them you are on the dining plan for prepaid meals. They will credit the cost of the meal back to you that day and then charge the dining plan.

You can make ADRs at 180 days whether you are on the DDP or not. You can make ADRs at 180 days for the full length of your stay as long as you have a resort reservation.

If you make your ADRs online THROUGH YOUR MDE ACCOUNT, then your ADRs are automatically linked. If you call to make your ADRs, you'll have to link them manually by inputting the confirmation numbers.

If you book a meal requiring prepayment (like CRT,HDDR), you will pay at the time of booking. If you later get a Dining Plan (free or otherwise), you can be reimbursed back onto the original payment form (credit card or gift card), when you inform your server. Or you could call Disney Dining to do it.

Last fall we had the DDP and we booked MYBBBQ and CRT, we did not have to pay in advance, it asked us on line if we wanted to guarantee the reservation with DDP or credit card. The day before each meal we debit those meals on our DDP.

Dining plan has nothing to do with making restaurant reservations. The only difference the dining plan makes is if you want to book CRT or a dinner show without paying the full price in advance. if you do not have a dining plan at the time you book, you must pay for these and get the payment refunded later when you do get a dining plan.

For any other reservation, the system does not care whether you have a dining plan or not.

I wasn't clear on my PP about that, so I edited my post.

Magnet girl, if you have already decided that purchasing the dining plan would not be in your best interest, you may want to look for a room only discount offer rather than the free dining plan. That might work out better for you financially.

I will have to agree with this. Whenever I am trying to book a prepaid meal through the MDE app, it always says call to book. Never sees we are using DDP. Doesn't matter which restaurant, I just had to call to book CRT a few days ago because MDE was not recognizing our DDP.
