Reservations while Resale Contract Pending

We are under contract to purchase points at OKW. We are so excited about joining DVC. We can't wait for the first trip. With the 60-70 days required to close the deal (late Jan '03 closing), can the current owner of the points make a reservation for us at OKW for May '03? We are concerned that we will be unable to secure a reservation for the end of May if we don't own the points until the end of Jan. Will all reservations made by the current owner automatically cancel when the closing transpires? Is there any downside for the current owner of the points in making the reservation on our behalf? Thanks for your help. We are trying to get quickly up to speed on the various nuances of the Program. This forum has been particularly helpful!!

No, Disney cancels any pending reservations at the time of the resale. This provides that the contract will have the number of points available as specified. Is there a reason for the lengthy delay in your closing? Usually it can be done within 6 weeks.

You won't be able to make a reservation until after closing and after you are in the DVC computer- usually within a week after closing.

May is usually a time when you can get reservations at OKW within 7 months.

60-70 days is a little long. Contact the closing company and see if it can be pushed up. As Doc said, you can't do what you would like to. As soon as you know the closing has taken place, remind the closing company to get the info to DVC ASAP. Personally, I'd remind them a few days ahead of time. You should be in the Computer a day or 2 after DVC gets it and you can act then. You do not need to wait until you get the deed back to you.
