Two of the nights we're at Disney I'd like for DH and I to have date nights. We'll be having dinner earlier with my mom & the kids, so it would be pretty late and likely just drinks & dessert at one of the resorts. Do we need reservations for that? If we make reservations and don't actually eat dinner will the wait staff be less than hospitable about it?

FWIW, I'm thinking of the Wave, California Grill and Citricos as options (something semi nice and on the monorail line). Or other thoughts?

Thanks guys - sorry I have so many newbie questions
So fortunate I found this site! :worship:

You can't make reservations to sit in the bar. You shouldn't need them for that anyway.

1) Ressies cannot be made at bar seating.
2) Sometimes, you wish they could be made.
3) Durng peak times or peak days, there are no seats available.
4) Especially, if there is a sporting event televised.

Or at the CG anytime near fireworks time!!

The bar at Citrico's is a tiny thing and there is almost no one ever there. We eat dinner at the bar there each trip,so a walk-in there ought to be fine most any evening.

I go by myself a lot and always eat at the bar.

The hardest one to get a seat that was mentioned was California Grill about the time of the fireworks.

My favorite lounge (besides my own at POR) is the WL; they have some nice snacks.

Love the bar at Prime Time 50's Cafe.

Love the bar at RFC in DTD or AK; AK tends to be less crowded. DTD is always crowded.

What a nice idea! I think the AK lounge is very nice and romantic. Will have to try this with DH one night in Feb.

Food is not served at the Victoria Falls lounge at AK. To eat a full meal you would have to go the small bar outside Jiko.

Unfortunately, no, you can't make reservations specifically for the bar at a resturaunt. However, what will you do if there's no seating available at the bar? Will you eat at a table or will you go somewhere else? If you'd eat at the resturant, at a table, if no bar seating is available, make reservations. That's what I always have to do, according to Disney Dining. Then when I check in at the podium, I ask if the bar is available. Since I often fo to WDW solo, I like bar seating sometimes. FWIW, the bar seating has almost always been available.

Awesome - thanks! I think I'll make reservations at CG for just drinks & dessert, and then we can try walk up at the Wave the next night; if no seats available we can head over to Citricos.
