For our trip last February we tried to rinf WDW direct to make some prioirty bookings but the automated system insisted that I punch in our phone number. Which combnation I used (international dialling code, no IDC etc), nothing seemed to work.

We have booked for next May and want to arrange dinner bookings and perhaps make some ararnegment with the hotel about room allocations.

Any tips on how we can contact Disney direct?

Hi fuse04 and welcome to the Dis :)

For dining reservations from the UK you need to ring:

001 407 939 3463

You won't be able to make ressies for May yet though :)

I don't think any WDW hotel will discuss room allocations with you unless you booked with them direct, unfortunately. They won't have a record of you until shortly before your stay when the tour operator you have booked with passes your details on. It used to be the case that you could fax the resort directly to make room allocation requests but I believe that practice is now not encouraged (or maybe not allowed at all, but I'm not sure).

Could you ask your tour operator to make a note on your reservation to pass along to Disney?

I might have misunderstood your post though so if I have please correct me :)

Welcome again, May is a lovely time to visit. Where are you staying?

I think their system needs a phone number with 10 digits so just use the last 10.

I just press any numbers on the phone and after a few goes someone will answer

Welcome to the boards

Thanks all for the help. Just discoverd this forum as recommnded by the Unofficial guide which was invaluable for our first visit. We will have another go nearer the time and try just usng the last 10 numbers...did think about just punching one of the disney numbers in as that must be valid!

I rang last night and just punched in any 10 numbers (don't put a 0 at the start). The CM I spoke to asked for a contact number and said that he has to basically 'make up' a number for his system so he uses the last 10 numbers of my home phone and then makes a note of 'UK' at the end of it. He thought the best number was a mobile number cos he can use that - omitting the 0 and it comes out to 10 numbers. :)

Thats what I uzse my mobile number without the first zero, allawas seems to work!

Some of our UK phones are not recognised by the USA phone system, i have two phones in our house and can only use one when booking with Disney or ADR's as the other one never works presume something with the touch tone.

I now use DREAMS UNLIMITED they make the booking and also the ADR's and i can contact my agent by e.mail saves the hassle.

The tour operator, Thomas Cook, has proved unrelaible in the past and having shopped around I can't find anyone better! However they have been really good in price matching any other cheaper deals I found.

I asked TC if they could request the reservations for me but this is not a service they provide. I have given them information about our requirements for a rooms but not sure if they will pass it on to Disney or not, so I thought I would be pro-active myself nearer the time. Last year Virgin where also not very helpful in the customer service area.

Last year for our first visit we (me, wife and 7 year old) went to Port Orleans Riverside which was much better than expected, very nice resort but dining is not very exciting there. We had just one week there as we had the second in Barbados because we didnlt think we would be over that way for sometime.

However we had such a great time at WDW we have booked for May next year (!) so that we can take advantage of the water parks, have booked one week at Animal Kingdom Lodge (Savannah) and the second at Wilderness lodge. Had been a bit concerned about transport re remoteness but I think the negative views are from those who expect instant transportation? We want something stress free!

Can anyone help fuse with this question please?

I like to book a my own flights or fly drive and then the rooms direct with Disney so I'm not the best person to help with tour operators!

I can help with AKL questions though. It is a little more remote than the other Disney resorts but we really did not mind this. It meant an extra 5 minutes on the bus to each park, but when you have already waited for a bus I never mind an extra 5 minutes, personally. We found the bus transportation to be excellent (we rarely waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus). As you say perhaps people expect instant transport but I definitely didn't and was pleasantly surprised.

The Wilderness Lodge has a lovely location with a very pleasant boat ride to the MK.

Both resorts, in my opinion are very beautiful, with wonderful themes and lovely facilities. Both great choices (though they do share some similar characteristics).

It is very easy (and good fun) to make dining reservations so I would not worry about that! Alternatively if you book your Disney accommodation through Dreams Unlimited who sponsor this forum they will make them all for you :cloud9:

Hope that helps a little, if you have any other questions please ask away :)

Yes AKL is nice but remote only the AK park is close, maybe McDonalds as well.
Wilderness Lodge, WHILST I havent stayed there on each trip I go there often by bus and never ever had an issue
