We are visting WDW from May 8-16. Wondering if we need to worry about making reservations until we get to WDW if attendence is down, or should we go ahead and make them now?
Some of the places we are looking at are 50's Prime Time, Kona, Grand Floridian Cafe, Boatwrights (maybe some others).

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the DIS!:welcome:

With the popularity of the Dining Plan, many times it is impossible to make same-day reservations. The Prime Time is probably the most popular of the restaurants on your list and I would not be surprised if most of the "good" time slots are booked already.

I suggest you make ADRs now; they are free and you can always cancel them later.

Enjoy your trip!

Anyone LMK when they experience the lesser crowds in the parks. :lmao: If you see that, it's a fluke that changes within an hour. ;) Well, lesser in comparison to Christmas. That would be true.
Make ADRs.

Kona & the Grand Floridian should be o.k. for on-site reservations, if you're flexible about times. Probably Boatwrights will be o.k. too.

But 50's PrimeTime...good luck! That is a popular place.

I would go ahead & try for reservations now for the ones you really, really want. And even if they're booked, you can try each day you're there - often there are cancellations.

I would make ressies now. You can always change or cancel once you are there. 50's Pime Time and Kona are popular; not sure about Grand Floridian Cafe as to popularity. Boatwright's, sorry...we'll never go back--food was awful as was the service, we had an adr for and waited 30 minutes past our time.

We like to have the ressies, that way we dont have to wander around looking for some place to eat, nor do we have to wonder what we'll be doing...

For MK days Kona and Grand Floridian Cafe are great places to eat, relax, get away from the crowds...

Are you going to EPCOT - if you cant get into 50's Prime time then boat over to EPCOT and eat at one of the countries -

Keep the number to WDW Dine handy while you are there, some people have reported going to guest services to be told no vacancies, but then they'd call, and something would open up!

People have also reported having more success walking up to places just as they open for meal times - before they get too backed up...

and WELCOME to the DIS!

Thank you all for the great advice and the welcomes. I hammered out the dates and will call in for the ADRs.
You guys are all way cool.

Thanks again. It's great to be on the DIS!!
