Reservations for Thanksgiving-How long can I wait?

We have a trip planned for October, however, due to school layoffs and possibly having to change districts, I may not be able to go and will go Thanksgiving week. All of my reservations are made for October. I really don't want to make reservations for Thanksgiving yet, as I don't want the charges on my credit card. How close to Thanksgiving can I wait and still hope for a room at WL or AKL? I should know by May or June what my situation will be. Is that enough time to still get a room?

I don't think you should wait to long to book the WL, as it fills up very fast. That is very busy week.

Got 9 nights at the WL, Woods view, with a AAA rate. Now, I'll wait to split my stay to AKL. I'm willing to take my chances, as long as I have a room somewhere!

I'm a teacher, too. Sorry about your possible layoff. Did you know the Swan/Dolphin has teacher rates for about $170? Just a suggestion to save some money.

Thanks for the suggestion...but I don't go to Disney to save money-LOL!! I want to stay where I want to stay. Hopefully, the layoffs won't be as bad as planned.
