Reservations for hotel guests?

The backstory for why I need to know this is complicated, but basic question: Are Disneyland hotel guests (specifically, Grand California) guaranteed admission to the parks even on dates with no reservations available (assuming of course otherwise valid tickets?

Not "guaranteed". But highly likely unless you wait until your trip approaches.

You can view availability and compare between the "buckets". For example... Labor Day (this weekend) appears to be booked up for hotel guests. After that, it's wide open, in advance.

They can, and do, shift capacity between the buckets. So if something is available, or not available...it could change. Best bet is just book as soon as able. :thumbsup2

Thanks. We have an annoying situation where we have park tickets & reservations for an October visit, we'd like to upgrade to Magic Key and spend a few more days there, but from everything I can see (including talking with a cast member) we can't do that upgrade till we are actually there. But I want to be able to make reservations before then, obviously.

The other option we are trying is to upgrade our *park tickets* for more days, make reservations with those tickets, and then we can upgrade no problem without losing our reservations.

The park reservation system has made this really tricky.

My kids were there last week staying onsite. They extended their pass by one day. The hotel guest reservation bucket for a Disneyland start were gone. The CM helped them get a reservation through the “other” bucket that still had spots. I’m guessing that means you can use whichever bucket has a reservation in it that you qualify for. Obviously everyone would qualify through the “ticket only” (non onsite hotel guest) bucket.

So weird that Hotel guests are limited to one park on Sept 2 and 3, but everyone else has access to both. I would have thought hotel guests would have priority.

Agreed, especially since hotel guests need either a 1 park ticket or Parkhopper to enter the gates, and those buckets had availability.

Checking this morning, now the hotel bucket has been "refilled" with capacity. So it makes more sense now. They definitely move numbers between buckets and/or fix these issues on the fly.

How do you find what’s available in these different buckets? I’m booked at Disneyland hotel, but other than looking at the general ticket site on the Disneyland website, I don’t know how to check what’s available for hotel guests.

I'm sure Guest Services will start to get complaints rolling in if Disney puts hotel guests last in line (smallest bucket) for park reservations. Very strange policy, as they should be first IMO.
