Reservations for Character Dining

We want to take our kids to Minnie's (as recommended by so many here) for breakfast their very first day at DL so I'll need to make a reservation to make sure that happens. Does anyone have any idea how soon in advance I should do that? Is this something you can do the week before or should I do it earlier than that? It'll be on a Friday in February if that makes a difference.

I've never been to a character breakfast so I honestly have no idea. The Disney site does say that reservations are recommended.

You can call Disney dining any time and up to 60 days in advance to book your dining reservations for the character meals. I generally do them as soon as I am able to after I decide on when so I'll be sure to get the time that I want. The closer you get to the date in question the more of a chance there will be that the time you want will no longer be available.

I do mine at the 60 day mark so I get the slot I want. It's kinda hard at times as park hours are not out yet.

Excellent! I'm glad I asked because I would have waited way too long. Looks like I'll be calling them right after Christmas then for our February 18 date with Minnie!

You'll be fine for a Friday. I have made them anywhere from the 60 day mark to as we're on the tram into the park.
