Reservations for 8 but 6 show up?

I asked this in dining reservations but there is no traffic there.

If I make my ADRs for 8 and then my parents (2 of the 8) don't end up coming, will we be penalized or lose the reservation?

They cannot commit yet but this they may go.

I had few last week where I had reservations for 8 but only 7 show up. I did not get penalized.

No. This is fine. You can always show up with fewer people - just not more people.

When traffic is low I usually use the search function to production several previous posts to address my question.

Rest assured you will not be penalized.

Sad but true we do this all the time. We're a family of 5 and it's VERY difficult to get reservations for that odd number of people! We always make reservations for 6 and just say the 6th couldn't come. Never had a problem!

I can tell you that you won't be penalized. Unfortunately I have to do it almost every time. We have various family members that tend to change their minds at the last minute, so I always make them for the max amount I think it will be. In this circumstance, my mom and brother are planning to come, but my brother has stage 4 colon cancer. We don't really know what his health will be like in Sept. Hopefully he will be okay to make the trip, but if not, he won't make it an neither will my mom.

Like the above said, you can take off just not add.

Awwww...I'm not sure if I should be flattered or scared that you cared enough to stalk my previous post??

You are correct that I did receive one singular answer in the other thread but after being told three different answers by 3 different CM's, I felt better getting more than one response.
