Reservations at Two Hotels

Can you hold two separate reservations at two onsite properties? I have deposits on two properties but they overlap by three days. I am not sure if they will cancel them if they see them.

I asked something similiar the other day, I am doing mine for medical related reasons, and still got roasted for it and the thread was closed. I am told that if they find it they cancel them. Mine were made through different sources and different names one at POR one at Swan so I don't think there is a problem there. But if your's are under the same name, address and so on you might have a problem.

i don't understand why anyone would want to pay for 2 hotel rooms, or yet, how that's affordable to someone!! why not just book 1 room and extend your vacation by 3 days?!!!! to me, that seems the more logical thing to do.. after all, another 3 days in Disney couldn't be anything but fun!!!!!

I acutally first put a deposit in March.. and then the code came up for the December at the AKL.. so I put the deposit there.

The problem is I won't know until next week since I might have some serious medical issues and I am not sure of the outcome yet. Keeping my fingers crossed and lots of prayers.

They wouldn't even let my mother have 2 rooms in her name at the same resort. Which REALLY ticked her off since she was paying for both of them.

I don’t think that there is anything wrong with it. I know people complain that you are holding a code someone else can use, but if you are trying to figure something out (in your case a serious medical condition) then that should be your right. Now if you want to hold a reservation for 4 different hotels just because you can’t decide that just seems ridiculous. We held reservation for 2 different hotels recently for about 10 days until we could figure out our budget for the trip. As soon as we figured out which hotel would best work for us we cancelled the other trip, which was still 2 months away from the date of our arrival.

THere must be something here that I don't understand, because of course you are allowed to have 2 rooms under your own name reserved. Why do you think the AP rules state you can reserve 2 rooms? What if you are treating another family member to a vacation and you are paying for each room. Of course they would be in your name, with other guests listed as the people staying in the room. I don't know why you couldn't reserve 10 rooms as long as you weren't using a discount that had a room limit. I am assuming that you are actually planning to use both rooms, not hold and cancel them.

I guess since WDW does not care they don't see anything wrong with it. Personally I kind of think it's un fair because it might cause someone to not a reservation and the fact that WDW Resorts fill up months in advance makes this a harder question to say it's ok to do. Although since WDW no longer let's guests double book ADR's, I am surprised they let you make two reservations at once at two different Resorts for them same amount of days.

Actually, Disney DOES care and normally will not knowingly allow someone to book 2 rooms for him/herself for the same/ovelapping dates. Even if someone is paying for multiple rooms they are only supposed to have one room booked under their name with the additional reservations booked under the names of the people who will be staying in those rooms.

Obviously some people come up with creative ways to subvert Disney's policies, just as they do with dining reservations, I guess because they believe the rules don't apply to them. I will not provide any of the ways I've heard of because DIS board policies do not espouse breaking Disney rules.

Last year I had two ressies for different onsite properties that were for the same time. One was a bounceback package at Pop and the other was a room only ressie at the GF. We were waiting to see if my son was going to be back from Iraq. If he was, then we were going to treat him to the GF...if not, then it was Pop. Unfortunately his stay in Iraq was extended so as soon as we got that news, we cx the ressie at the GF. He'll be home for Christmas though so all of us are getting together using our DVC points at OKW. Sorry if this offended anyone, but when you book things a year in advance it's not always possible to know what your circumstances will be.---Kathy

You can only reserve one room per AP holder now - Disney changed that earlier this year. There were several posts from people who weren't very happy about this change.

If you are treating another family member to a trip, you would be booking the room and paying for it, but the names listed on the room would be the guests you are booking it for. You can book as many rooms as you like, so long as the guests listed for each room are different (think Magical Gatherings type reservations). But you can't do it with discount codes unless you follow the rules (i.e., if you book three AP rooms, there needs to be one adult AP holder booked in each room).

This sounds perfectly reasonable to me! I don't know how families with members in the military can plan anything especially since ADRs for the top Disney restaurants have to be made 180 days in advance.

I have two rooms booked at All Star Music in December as I'm treating my son and daughter-in-law. Disney would not let me book both rooms in my name so I am on room #1 and my daughter-in-law is on room #2 with my address.

OH, I was unaware of the change and I am a passholder! I guess it's time for me to actually read the little cardholder! I now understand the issue and I am think I am remembering a magical gathering.

But I assume you have to give them all 16-19 names, right? So even though you are booking and paying for the rooms, they know you personally aren't planning to stay in each room - that you are booking them for friends/family.

The issue is if John and Jane Doe have a reservation at WL from the 1st through the 7th, and a reservation at AKL for the 4th through the 11th, Disney knows that they aren't going to be staying in two rooms at two separate resorts at the same time. If John and Jane Doe book a room at WL under their name, and they book a room (and pay for it) for Sam and Susan Doe at AKL, then they have booked two rooms, but for two different families - it doesn't matter if they are for the same dates or just overlap.

I think that's one of the reasons that Disney started requiring the names of all guests on the reservation. Even before the DME and the advent of the packages, I started having to give the name of my travel companion(s) on room only reservations. The only reason I can think of that they would need that info in advance is to keep an eye out for situations like this, since they used to just take down the extra names when we checked in.

No, you can't. If you've been allowed to do this, then please, let me know the CM who allowed you to so I can ask for them the next time I call...lol. MANY people have pointed this out and complained about it recently--myself included. My mother was paying for both rooms too and they would NOT let her make the ressies both in her name. They told her they 'linked' the two ressies, but they were 2 different reservations--two different confirmation number and everything. She had to give the names of who was staying in what room (which she didn't honestly know at the time) and one person from each room had to be present at check-in. When she called back to get the room numbers after check-in, they would only give her the number for the one she was staying in...which, needless to say really made her mad as she'd paid for both rooms.

well in my medical case, which may be very serious, it was a necessity. I will adjust the reservationas accordingly after my appointment this week. If things are bad, of course I will have to cancel.
