reservations, ADR's, and cancels....oh my !!!

Hi all,

We are getting ready to come down to the Fort arriving in Florida the day before Thanksgiving. We hope to stay at the Fort but we are not able to get in before the 29th.

I have been calling for some time to get a few ADR's. One in particular was the Fantasmic dinner package. We are going to be there for 2 1/2 weeks and ALL of the ADR's are full. I then was told that the Dining Pkg. was so popular that the reservations were filling up. If I remember right its free dining after the Thanksgiving holiday. Not to gripe much but its a double edged sword. We don't get to participate in the free dining and the ADR's are packed with the others enjoying the free pkg.

I guess I will keep calling every morning and hope that someone cancels for the days we need. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. See you all in one month.

Unfortunately, this is not a new problem, and there isn't much hope that you will be able to snag ADR's this late in the game. The folks who enjoy free dining know what they are doing. A lot of them have it down to a science. The ADR's for the best restaurants are gone months ahead of time. One thing that ticks me off is that a lot of these folks make multiple ADRs for the same date and time, so that they can decide later which one they want to use.

But, the fact that some folks make multiple reservations can work to your advantage. The Fort has a Concierge. There is a Concierge window down at Pioneer Hall and also at the Reception Outpost. If you visit or call the Concierge the day you are looking for ADR's, they will find you a place that has availability. It is still unlikely that you will be able to get in to the most popular places, but you probably will be able to get into some places that are currently unavailable.

Free dining stinks for campers.

Hey, for what it's worth I've been trying to get Thanksgiving weekend for months. Had given up & booked Christmas. On a whim tried this morning & booked full hookup Thurs.-Sun. at the Fort. Now have to figure out if we want to keep Christmas. So, keep trying to get reservation.

When we booked for Thanksgiving last year, (my hubby decided at the last minuted he wanted to go to the Fort for Thanksgiving), for a whole month I called everyday at least 4-5 times a day before I was able to get a reservation. I believe it was the week before Thanksgiving that I finally got us in. Keep trying!
