Reservation ?

If I book a room for the dates I want, and Disney sends me a discounted rate code, can I have it added to the reservation, or will I have to book a new one?

Yes, you can as long as there is availability at the resort. (If not, you can always switch to another resort to get the deal.)

I know sometimes you have to make a new reservation and cancel your old one... I believe that might be if you're going from a room-only to a package (or vice versa?).

I have made several changes to our reservations (both room-only and packages) as new deals came out. I think I changed a room I booked for MIL last year 4 times-- first I just booked it at rack rate, then I remembered I could do AAA discount, then a spring code came out, and finally there was a FL resident discount that was cheaper than the spring code. Each time, it was simple to modify it over the phone. I kept the same reservation number and they just kept my original deposit amount.
