If we have a reservation at 6:50pm at Chef Mickey's- if we arrived early say 6:15/30- Do they ever seat you early? We have a 5:25 reservation time as well but that was a little earlier than we wanted. I keep checking for a 6/6:15 opening. This is our arrival day( get to airport at 12:30) and we wanted to check out the resort/ swim for a bit and not have to rush since we usually leave about an hour/ hour and 15 before the reservation time

Very unlikely. If there was availability you would be able to book it.
While you are holding 2 reservations other families are unable to get one at all. Not good

I've shown up for ADRs 30 minutes early because we were hungry/done with rides/caught a quick bus and waited only 5 minutes. I've shown up for ADRs 5 minutes early and waited 45 minutes. It depends on how that restaurant is doing that particular day. But I've never been told "you're too early, come back later" when checking in 30 minutes early. But I expect to wait 15+ minutes when I do that. Chef Mickey's can be a zoo. Whenever you show up for dinner that night, you're going to wait to be seated. So why not go early.

Note that ADRs are not really reservations for a specific table at a certain time. The way it has always been described to me is: once you check in, you'll be seated at the next available table (after the people who have already checked in and are waiting). That's kinda why they say get there 15 minutes early, because you'll never be seated immediately. You check in, your name goes in the queue.

Well someone will get it when she drops one.

Probably - but does that make it right for the family who was disappointed when trying to book their ADR's? I think not. It is selfish behavior like this that result in new "rules" and "restrictions" that end up hurting the masses. JMHO

Disney sets the rules. They could stop this if they wanted to.
