We are planning on going to WDW December 2005 (next year).
Is it better that I make my reservations early and wait to apply a discount code later when they come out this time next year? Or should I wait till the discount codes come out and then make reservations?
Is it a possibility that if we make early reservations that when discount codes come out they will not be available for our reservations? I guess then if we truly want to use the discount codes we would have to modify our reservations to fit what discounts are available.

What do ya'll think about this? Am I on the right track?

I can tell you what I have done. I made my reservation for what I can afford without a code. I my case, CSR. If a code comes out, I will upgrade to hopefully AKL or WL. This way, I have a room in a resort I am happy with, and everything else is a bonus.

I made my ressies for May '05 in May '04. I can afford the room I'm in, but if I get a code -- yippee!!!!! At least this way I am guaranteed a space.

I'm bumping up my question.

Should I book my December trip now and wait to apply the AP rate when it come out later on?

Or should I just wait and book the room when the Ap rate comes out?

thanks,

I have booked my December 16th trip already w/ the AAA rate. However I am hoping for the AP rates to be better. Right now I know what the cost will be with AAA and I am saving each week to pay that amount. If the AP rate comes out and is less, then I have saved that much $$ which I can use for extras while at the park....

about how much did the AAA rate save you?

I agree with the other posters re: book what is affordable and hope for a code.
IMHO, I am concerned that codes may not be as available this year as in the past due to:
Higher then usual occupancy due to the 18 month celebration, Magical Express, and high touism #'s in 2004.

I would be very interested in hearing others thoughts on this issue.

I usually book AAA rate and wait for codes as well. The AAA rate will save you 10-15% off of rack rate depending on season.

Okay, now I have made my reservations on the MYW + dining with Park Hopper and Magic Plus Pack. Can I join AAA and get a AAA rate? Or is this only for "rack" rates?
