We will be renting points from DVC — how does the payment work? Will we need to put a $200 deposit like when making a reservation through the Disney website with room tickets and dining? Or will we have to pay for entire package when we book the room?

Most renters and rental agencies will require full payment at the time of reservation. Generally, you will not be able to make changes to the reservation once booked, and you will not get your money back if you cancel.

If you book with an agency like dvcbyrequest.com, you can add the dining plan to your reservation, and they will sell you park tickets. Payment for that would also be expected up front.

If you're booking directly with an owner, they will probably be willing to add the dining plan for you (owners set their own terms), but you would buy tickets on your own.

Disney does not rent points. They will reserve a room for you just like a normal room. From whom are you renting points? Points rental agencies will require full payment upon confirmation and are almost always non-refundable.

We will be renting from David’s dvc rental. I am trying to figure out how much I need to put down when we make the reservation. If we want tickets and dining plan added - is that due at time of rental? I asked them directly but haven’t gotten an answer yet so I was just wondering. Thanks everyone!

Since you're renting DVC points, if you want to add the dining plan, that cost will be due in full when you make the reservation. Tickets you will purchase yourself.

Some of your questions are explained well on David's website. You put down your $119 when you make the request, and once they get the reservation payment is due in full for the room. You can add the dining plan up to 30 days in advance and have to pay in full when you add it. I have a confirmation from Davids from a few days ago. You do not need to request and pay for the dining plan when you make the room reservation, you can add it later (must be at least 30 days ahead or your trip) and pay for it then.

So the way David's works (unless it has changed recently) is that you put down a deposit when you agree to let them find you DVC points to book. The remainder is due when they match your request with an owner and secure your reservation. You are best off having the full amount ready to go since it could be a quick turnaround between requesting and booking.

Tickets you can purchase separately anytime (from Disney or an authorized reseller), you'd have to pay that in full.

Dining plan would have to be paid in full when you make that reservation too.

You can't think of DVC rentals in the same way you would regular Disney room/package booking. They're separate animals with different processes.

You need to pay for the dining plan in full when it is added to your reservation. So at the point you request it, you need to have payment ready for it. You will need to pay in full for the reservation when it is reserved. You can purchase your tickets from anyplace you want. Undercover Tourist is a good authorized ticket reseller.

You are not reserving a room by booking with Disney. You are purchasing a reservation made by a DVC owner using their points. You won't be able to modify or cancel the reservation in most cases.
