We have the DDP. Every time I call to try and make a reservation I am asked "are you on the dining plan?" My question is are there only so many reservations given to DDP guests and other times held for guests that are not on the DDP? I just think it is odd that they ask me this everytime I call and before they look to see if a time is available. Anyone know? Thanks Chris

Hi Chris.....Welcome to the Dis..

I do think that they may allot so many reservations to the DDP and then maybe leave some space for people who are not on the DDP....but I am not positive. I think the answer that I have seen most is that it is first come, first serve, but I am also wondering..

Anyone have the official word??

I always assumed it was to help them track about how long to expect folks to take as DDP diners have three courses. B/c you can add the plan up until a few days prior to your trip and you don't have to adjust your ADRs. And you can be on the plan and choose not to use it for that meal. So nothing you are saying when you make your ressie obligates you in any way to DDP or no DDP.

This is the way I see it (and heard it discussed elsewhere) as well. Under the current plan, with an appetizer, main course, and dessert, you can, in essence, take up more time than others who might or might not do that a la carte. (more time = fewer diners overall or longer waits.) At the same time, we were asked this as we checked in during many of our ADR's that were not buffets.
