Reservation question

Just made my reservation for PC at Christmas (Dec 27 - Jan 8). Called and talked to CM. No problem getting a room for these dates. When I told her that I wanted to split the reservation (i.e. Dec 27 - Jan 1, Jan 1 - 8) in order to take advantage of the price drop Jan 1, she tried, but the computer told her that there was no availability.
I've had this before where PC wanted 4 nights minimum stay before they'd book a room over the Christmas period, but Dec 27 - Jan 1 is 5 nights. Even had her add an extra day, but still nothing. I booked it as 1 reservation so at least I've got that, but I'm not sure what to do next. There should be a way to split this thing so I'm not paying $140/night for the whole stay. Should I call PC directly and ask them if they have a special requirement? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just checked disneyworld.com for availability January 1-8 and there are still standard and preferred view rooms available at Pop Century. Sometimes CM's at CRO don't have access to the same rooms that are available online. I would book online, it should work fine. Good luck! We'll be at WDW December 26-January 8, see you there!

The CM had no problem getting the Jan 1 - 8 ressie to come up, but when she tried to book a Dec 27 - Jan 1 ressie, the system said that there was nothing available. I will try online, however and see if I can do it myself.

Oh, sounds like I got it reversed, oops! Anyway, hope you have some luck with that!

I was just checking online, and I found that if you put your arrival date as December 24th, POP is available. You could make that reservation online and then call and tell them you want to cancel the first 3 nights. Then keep your Jan. 1-8 reservation. That should do the trick. Kind of complicated, but it could save you some money!

What if you made your reservations for January 1-8 online, then called to change your original reservations for December 27-January 1? Once you're in the system, the CM should be able to override whatever comes up to accommodate you.

I went online and it looks like POP wants a min. 7 day ressie. So I could just change it to Dec 27 - Jan 2 and Jan2 - Jan 8.

PrincessJasmine08: Do you think that would work? If I have a reservation and then shorten it, can they then tell me it's no longer available? I wouldn't think so, but I don't want to lose those nights.

lovesmurfs: Am I permitted to have 2 ressies with overlapping dates or will the system say "no"?

I've shortened reservations before for various reasons (flight schedule changed, had to get back to school sooner than I thought, etc.) and have never had a problem. Once you have the reservation I don't think they can tell you you can't change it! It's worth a try, I think it will work, good luck.
