Here's the situation...

We are travelling with my sister's family (8 people total...4 adults and daughters ages 11,9,6 and 2 at time of travel) next October. Right now, we have two studios booked for two nights at the beginning and then a 2BR for the last three nights. At the 7-month mark, I would like to cancel the two nights in the studios and buy one-time use points to make the entire 5-night stay in a 2BR.

I am able to go on MDX right now and customize the MB's for both reservations. Since I am planning on cancelling the studio, I don't want to bother with that one. But, what will happen to the current 2BR reservation when I make the change? Will it be considered "modified" and keep the same number, or will it be a cancel and re-book and therefore a new number? I don't want to make a mess of things....Disney does enough of that on their own:goodvibes.

Just a guess here based on what I have done in the past, but I think you have a two night reservation and a three night reservation that are linked. Especially if you use home resort points for the last three nights and non-home resort points (because of the OTU points) for the first two nights.

I used home-resort points to book all three reservations...2 studios for 2 nights each and then a 2BR for three nights. I am planning on cancelling the 2 studio reservations and adding those two nights on to the 2BR. Based on what you're saying, the 2BR reservation for three nights will need to be cancelled and rebooked as a 2BR reservation for 5 nights because I am using the OTU points, correct? If this is the case, then I do not want to do anything with the MB's at this point because all three of the reservations will be cancelled and a new number assigned. Does that sound right?

FWIW, we are travelling in October and staying in standard view rooms at Kidani. If I call right at 9am on the day the 7-month window opens, I should have no problem getting a standard 2BR, right? If I can't get it, we will stick with what we have since I can't waitlist with OTU points.
