Hi all,
we have decided to take a last minute trip mid November. As you can imaging, availability is zilch. WE are planning to stay 4 nights and are taking the approach stalking that RAT and just booking anything that comes up even if it means changing hotels every night. In the last few days I have managed to book two of the nights at separate resorts. Ultimately we would like to move around less.My question is, if I see a night come up at a different hotel for one of the nights that I have already booked, should I go ahead and start the process on the online booking so that it holds it while I call MS? I'm wondering what the best way to do this would be, has anyone had any experience with this?

Just do it online by trying to modify the existing reservation that you want to drop. You are able to check not he availability at all of the resorts. If there is one that you are interested in, just switch. Your reservation information is already filled in and the points that you used are used for the new reservation.

In this situation, does modifying into a cheaper room put the point difference into holding?

I can imagine that getting dicey for last minute bookings.

I have an 8 night ressie at SSR for January but stalk the RAT ALL THE TIME since looking for a last minute cancelation for 7-8 nights at a monorail resort and I stalk by going into my existing ressie under modify. This way if I see something, I can get it immediately. Not sure about holding and points, I guess it depends whar UY you are using and either way I think the same would be done if you called MS. If you see something you should grab it, inventory for some dates/locations move extremely quickly. I see it.

I had no idea that we could now modify a reservation online! Is that relatively new???

Probably so but I'm not so worried. about that at the moment since I still have a few nights to book :)

I believe the same rules apply online and through the CM. If the change is made under 30 days, the remaining points would go to holding.

I am looking at it now and have a few questions, when you modify, can you modify the date of stay and type of room or just the resort? Also, It is showing me an available night t BLT when I look through my BLT reservation but it will not show It to me when I look through the reservation I want to modify, so strange.

You can modify date, resort and room size. I dont know what you mean “resize”. You should be under Dashboard, modify your reservation, and it will ask you size and resorts. Just hit all resorts and whatever room size request.

If you are looking to just add a date, then you are not modifying, you are making a new booking.

Actually, wiith the new modify tool, adding a day is indeed treated as a modification, not a new booking. You retain the same confirmation number and all your room requests are preserved.

Yes , you are correct. I was actually thinking if OP had a day and then saw another day 2-3 days later. Thanks.

Darn you spell check!!! resize should say ressi, I guess I shouldn't try to shorten the word reservation.

lol

Okay, then yes, you want to be in modify your ressie and rebook. Good luck. Put in your two waitlists and then also stalk as much as you can.

Let us know how you make out.
