We just returned from our first trip to WDW. It was great. Our kids loved it and we had a good time. We only had one issue.
I am a Planner with a capital P. I reserached and reviewed each of my ressies. I put my iteneray on Disboards for review and help. I made reservations with the masses on Oct. 27. I was up at 3 am!!! I even bought outfits and planned themes for each day depending on parks and dinner reservations. I kept a handwritten copy of reservation numbers and the print out from WDW. Yes, I have a problem. :confused3
Our last day there we had reservations for Spirit of Aloha. I planned MK for our parks and Dole Whip for the snack. My girls even had luau styled outfits to wear to dinner. I called the front desk about noon that day to ask about our tickets. I was told no problem, just run by the desk on out way to the bus. Okay!!! We ran by the desk, the "helpful" lady, told me it was too late to pull up the tickets. I explained the sitaution, and she continued to look. The pulled up my ressie number and told me I had no reservation. The computer had cancelled me. The "helpful" lady told me I gave no cc number to reserve. Which I did. She continued to tell me that it wasn't a good show and would be too cold to enjoy anyhow. She refued to call the Poly or do anything to get us into the show. Finally, with me in tears, she found our family a seat at GF cafe.
The food was good, but a big let down for our last night. Has anyone else had this happen to them??? Or can someone tell me what happened??

If you had your print out may I ask why you didn't involve a manager? Or guest services?

While I am not a planner like you, I do plan my meals and take my print out with the ressie number on it and will fight to the death for them. LOL

I am sorry you didn't get to experience something you looked so forward to, hopefully next time you won't have an issue.

I should have fought. I regret not fighting. It was 4:05 and the show started at 5:15. I was so in shock at the treatment I was receiving that I did not know what to do. The "helpful" lady at the concierge desk told me that if I did not take the reservation she found at the GF we would not have anywhere to eat until 8 or 9, if we could get in anywhre at all. All I could think of was that my girls eat at 5 or 530 every night. They could not make it to 8 or 9. I thought about complaining when we came back to our room. But, what good would it have done at that point?

We refuse to purchase the DDP because of similar issues. Horrible service from CMs (at hotel, restaurant and guest services-all one issue).

I'm not surprised at all that you had problems.

aren't linked. You can have issues with ressies whether or not you are on a DDP. Although I do feel badly for the OP, nothing worse than carefully made plans going awry, I've made ressies for every night of every trip for the past 4 years (always on DDP) without incident and have never had a problem with a CM. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I fail to see what DDP has to do with it.

OP; sorry you had to deal with that debacle. Personally I would have asked or a Manager and explained. I have found that Disney has always tried to go above and beyond to make things magical. perhaps I have been lucky...hope it stays that way:lmao:

Perhaps you should send Disney a note, describe what happened and who you spoke too. I have been in a situation where my ds would not eat at a restaurant after we chose it (during free dine) we found out that our "request" for food was not available. Anyway, we tried so many places and could get in no where (like what they told you). I called POR where we were staying and they got us a reservation at the restaurant, told us not to worry, just show up and they;d get us in as soon as they could. They were so nice. So, again, I guess that sometimes things can go wrong, mistakes happen, but if it still bothers you, drop them a note, perhaps they can "fix" the glitch that happened to you to avoid it happeneing to someone else. Glad rest of your trip was good!

Hi!! Sorry your family went thru this..what resort did you stay at? And it was that resorts guest services who couldn't find your ressie? I don't think any of us can tell you what happened. However for future, I would advise going to the restaurant directly. Especially if you have your print out & know you gave the CC info. I would have told them that the resort couldn't find the ressie & let them try. I've had times where the restaurant has had to look closely for my ressies. Sometimes just an incorrect spelling or even just over looking it. I know it doesn't help you now, but if you have the print out & you are standing right there, I think they'd do all they can to get you in.

Try not to beat your self up over not fighting harder. You don't want this to over shadow the great time you had with your family...I hope you get to go back some day & get in to the show.....:flower3:
