I am staying at HH in late April of this year for 7 nights. When I made my reservation back in early February, they required one nights stay as a deposit. According to my letter of confirmation from Disney, cancellations must be received 5 days prior to check in. I am assuming if you don't cancel in time, that you lose your deposit but it wasn't 100% clear to me.
A few days after I made my initial reservation, I needed to make a change from 7 nights to 8 nights because of my airline reservation. When I called Disney reservations, you would have thought I was asking for the keys to Cinderella's Castle. They ended up having to call me back twice to figure it out. In the end, I now have two reservations (one 7 night and one 1 night). They are linked together. Supposedly, we will not have to move rooms. I sure hope not, or I will be "dissappointed" or as my wife calls it UPSET and DEMANDING.
SIDE BAR: Disney's reservation system seems to be a bit outdated and needing some fixing. I travel 2-4 per month for work and book hotels with many of the major chains (Hilton, Marriott, etc) and all of them seem much easier to deal with than Disney.
We have never stayed at Disney HH but we went to HH last year and loved it (stayed at Marriott Grande Ocean, wow, it is incredible). We stopped by the Disney property and decided if we had the chance, we'd try it sometime. Early this year, I applied fo the Disney Visa and a special offer for $149 per night came (2 bedroom villa). I had some free airline tickets from United for flying a bunch for work last year, so we decided to give Disney HH a try. Compared to a WDW trip, this will be a cheap trip.
I am looking forward to a low key vacation. We are hoping the weather is somewhat cooperative.
