Reservation for drink and app?

I just read on another forum that someone had gone to a restaurant at Disney Land and ordered drinks and an appetizer. They were served but told by the waiter that they really don't like that.
On a personal note, I had a waiter roll his eyes at me at Tiffens when we ordered 2 drinks and an app. This was a walk up, day of res. at 3:00 and there were only 4 other party's in the place.
Anyway what does everyone think? Ok or not ok to go in just for this.
I personally have done it many time at off peak hours and never felt bad about it.

If you are going when it isn't crowded I don't think it should be a problem. If the restaurant had a problem with it, they would set a per person minimum or some other way to control things. I wouldn't do this during prime time since it would affect the waitstaff's income via tips unless you kept your stay very short and tipped well.

I say it’s absolutely ok and if the waiter wants to roll their eyes at me their tip will correspond. I usually tip extra because I feel bad not ordering a meal though- unless they give me issues about it.

Thankfully the instances I’ve gotten guff for that at Disney have been few and far between. Usually the servers are perfectly amicable and I won’t hesitate to do this at places that are not price fixed.

As PP noted, if Disney is not ok with this practice, they will switch restaurants to to a pre-fixe format (BOG for instance went from a la carte to pre-fixe for this very reason). Unless it is pre-fixe, you are absolutely free to order as much or as little as you'd like at a restaurant.

I don't give a rats behind what the server WANTS me to order. And, if they roll their eyes at me I'll ask for another server.

If you have a minimum, fine. If its a prix fixe, fine. Otherwise, I'll eat what I desire.

I'll tip the same %, (above average, but that's irrelevant), as I always do. And, no, I'm not giving an extra tip because my food wasn't expensive enough.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting a window seat at California Grille, ordering a glass of wine and sitting there for 3 hours to see the fireworks, (Which I HAVE seen, by the way.)

Sheeeeesh
