Reservation for Chef Mickeys?

I would.

Chef Mickeys is a very popular place for all meals. I'd make the PS just to be safe.

it is a good idea to make a priority seating (ps) as it is called at all disney restaurants. they dont call it a reservation. you could try without it but i wouldnt reccomend it.. welcome to the DIS BOARDS

Another vote for "YES". Chef Mickey's is one place I would not try without a priority seating. It is very popular.

Make the PS for Chef Mickey as soon as possible, as we ended up with a PS at 7:00 pm, which for our children is too late for dinner and almost time for bed. We called again, hoping, based on disboards advice, to find an earlier time slot, but nothing, so we ended up switching to breakfast with the idea that the kids will be awake.

Wow, same thing happend to me. I just called to make a PS for dinner for Chef Mickey's on 4/26/05. The earliest seating they had available was 8:10PM - my 2 year old is usually asleep by then. If I knew it was so popular I would have made that PS when I made my Crystal Palace breakfast PS last month!

Just called and was able to get a 6:50pm PS. That's the earliest they had. Thank you very much for the great tips!!!

Since they start taking the PS 90 days out, alot of people do just that. Almost every person I have ever talked to have said they make their reservations (PS) as soon as they can to make sure they get the time they want or as close to it as they can... it's the early bird, worm thing...

When it comes to our trips, I make the reservations as soon as I can, even if it is a slow season... you never know what is going to happen and they could have 4 high schools show up that day and they all want to eat in the dining room I wanted to and at the same time I wanted... :rotfl2:

Good Luck!

TAKE CARE

MARY ;)

Yesterday, my wife called twice for PS, with about 15-20 minutes between calls (as we discussed our choices), and some of the spaces available on the 1st call were gone by the 2nd call. She thinks WDW does this to hype their restaurants, but it means essentially you can't plan attending that favored choice without that PS.

Some other threads on this board had folks saying they never make PS's and they just show up at the restaurant of their choice. If something is available then they wait 15-20 minutes, if not, they just go somewhere else or go back to their hotel for dinner.

All this concern for landing those PSs is necessary to not disappoint the kids, but takes a lot of fun out of the vacation. I mean having to program where you eat breatfast, lunch or dinner on a vacation?

I have to say that I feel bad for those people at Chef Mickey's, who want to eat dinner without that PS. They are told that the wait is going to be over an hour. Same thing happened at LeCellier when we ate there on late Nov. I'm not saying that you have to make a PS for each and every meal you will eat in WDW, but if you have someplace you really want to eat at, you are better off making that call for PS. I have walked into some of the more popular spots without a PS and been seated. But, it was at some pretty funny times of day...like 3:00 for lunch!!! We always eat at CM's our first night in WDW..that's a huge deal for us, so I call at 7:30 am on the 90th day!!!
