That problem depends on several things:
1. When are you going? Is it during the busy season or the quiet time?
2. How many people are in your group?
3. What time to do you want to eat and are you flexible?
Overall, if you already know you want to eat there, it wouldn't hurt to make the ADR. That way you know you have it and won't have to worry.

We stayed at AKL Dec. 12-19. We had Boma breakfast ADRs for the 13th and 19th. The 13th was a Monday and our time was 8:30 am. We were shown to our table within a few minutes wait. There was a bit of a wait at the omelet station but everything else was easy to walk up and serve yourself from the buffet. On Sunday the 19th we had decided on a late breakfast and I found the restaurant to be less than 1/3 full at 10:00 am. There was no wait for anything.
If you want to eat early before heading off to a park you should be sure to get an ADR. However, you should not have to worry about booking it 180 days out like some of the very poplular restaurants.
Thanks for the help! It's just my boyfriend and I going and we'll be there from 12/14-12/21. I was thinking of going pretty early in the morning so I'll probably make an ADR.
