Reservation for 3, but show up with 2?

So there's a ton of dining availability for 3 for my upcoming trip, but hardly anything available for just 2 people.

Would it be horrible, and would I get in big trouble, if I made a dining reservation for 3 people, but just showed up with only 2 of us?

Nope, no issues. Just don't show up with more than the reservation.

I routinely make dining reservations for 2 and show up by myself on solo trips. I've never had a problem, and I suspect the restaurants are so used to someone being missing due to illness or just tired out that no one minds.

Also there are some places (*cough*'Ohana*cough*) whose systems don't register 1 at all, and sometimes have "issues" with odd-numbered parties. I'm also a solo and just automatically make everything for 2 rather than try to remember who has issues and who doesn't.
They know it's a glitch, so there is never a problem. As long as one person shows.

If -0- show up, you will get charged a no-show fee. A few less then the reservation (other then -0-) is no big deal.

Yup, I know that "dining for one" sometimes doesn't compute with the Disney system, so I always say 2.

Best answer to this: You need to understand "2 top", "4 top" - then everything else....

1-2 people get a 2 top table.
3- 4 people get a 4 top table.

Everything else? Tables generally get moved around for larger parties. Think 2-top, and 4-top. Solo, no tables? Invite A. Lincoln... who will likely be unable to attend, and book for 2. 3 people, no tables? A. Christie is your forth. Why she could not make it is a total mystery .

Now there is always the "glitch" in the WDW system: ONE person shows up for a Ressie? No penalty. You could book for 7, show up as a solo dinner, and get away with it. I would not recommend doing so .

I wouldn't worry too much, but keep an eye on whatever CC you use just in case. We ran into an issue at Liberty Tree two years ago where a new cast member was checking us in, but we only had 6 instead of the 7 we reserved. He charged us the no show fee and we had to waste time the next day at the hotel to get it reversed.

Now, you can simply specify the smaller party size during mobile check-in. Very convenient!

We had this happen once, we met up with some friends that were staying over at the Boardwalk... The plan was to meet at 4 and check out Food and wine then have dinner at Chefs of France... He was here for a conference, and he skipped out early... and well they decided to hit Food and Wine all day, and by the time we arrived they were in the bag... and still continued to drinking... messy... by 5:30 they almost could not stand upright... We strongly encouraged them to go back to the resort and sleep it off... so we went our own ways, and they sat us without any issue even though our ADR was for 4 people...

I believe it was $60. They refunded it , but we still had to go to the concierge to get it done.
Like I said though, new kid was working the desk, so learning curve and whatnot.
