Reservation Cancelled - Wilderness Lodge (Copper Creek Villa) vs. Grand Floridian (Outer Building) - Could Use Some Help

Back in February I booked a week on the Club floor of the Wilderness Lodge. We stayed there years ago and really loved it. Trip is for the last week of March 2021.

When I called Disney World yesterday to get 4-day park tickets added to my reservation so I could get my park reservations settled I was told by the customer service associate that my WL reservation was cancelled and those rooms weren't available, that the Wilderness Lodge was closed. Then she double checked and said she could put me in the Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas at the same price instead. She gave me a few alternatives, and I decided to put us in the Grand Floridian Outer Building. We're a party of 4 and the room layout sounded good with the 3 bed setup.

But today I'm not sure I did the right thing. Can anyone weigh in? We loved the pools and the vibe of WL when we stayed there last but I'm concerned that if the main WL building is shut that they will close restaurants and pools and that would ruin everything. At least in the GF we're on the monorail with access to other hotels and restaurants if they cut back.

Has Disney clarified what restaurants/pools/marina vehicles/etc. are going to be closed? Or are the hotels going to offer everything as usual just with far fewer guests?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.!

March is too far out to know for sure, if everything will be open. But most things are open. Right now, this is what is open at Copper Creek/WL. Artist point restaurant and the adjoining lounge are not open, but pools and other restaurants are.

I think you made the right choice. With a party of 4, moving to a villa at CCV isn't a great idea, IMHO, as, unless you are in a 2-bedroom villa, some people in your group would end up on pull-out beds. At GF, you'll get 2 queens, a daybed, the monorail and some really good restaurants.

Thank you! And you're right.....March is a long way off.

Thanks! That's what I was considering first and foremost as my teen daughter and son would be complaining if forced together in a shared pullout sofa.

I'm glad I apparently made the right decision as it took forever to get through to reservations, wasn't looking forward to doing it again.

Love them both and yes counter intuitive that one room has better sleeping set up than a villa but it’s true. I love WL but when prices are comparable I never regret GF.

I love both resorts for various reasons but you'll be more comfortable at GF. Hopefully by the time your visit, the walkway to MK will be open (which will be another bonus). Plus, who knows what will change by your visit.

A regular resort room is better than a villa studio when you need more than one bed. You chose correctly.

Thank you all for your advice, it's really appreciated.

Is there a site any of you can recommend that is keeping track of the closings and openings of the facilities, attractions, events, experiences, etc. of WDW as they occur? I'd love to find a site or app that sends me alerts as the months go by on what's changing in this regard.
