Reservation cancellation question

Hi,
We had reservations made under our parents and we have decided to cancel. The reservation was for November. If we cancel now will they lose the vacation club points? Thanks for the help!

They have 8 months from the beginning of their use year to cancel without penalty. Do you know what use year they have?

The reservation can be cancelled at any time - with no definite "penalty" until one month prior to the scheduled start of reservation... they will have different options for reusing or reassigning (banking) the points, depending on their UY and whether the reservation was made with banked, borrowed or current UY points (no simple answer to your simple question.)

You can cancel the vacation, up to 31 days prior and the points will go back into their account.

However, what they can do with those points, depends on what type of points were used to make the reservation.

If they are still in their banking window (first 8 months of the UY), any current UY points can still be banked into next UY.

If they borrowed any points for the reservation, those points will have to be used by the end of their UY or they will expire.

If they used banked points, then those will still have to be used by the end of their UY, as points that are banked can not be banked again.
