Reservation Call Calculator?

Just an inquiry.....has anyone come up with a online calculator yet where you put in your trip dates and it figures your date of calling MS to book at both 11mth or 7mth window.

This idea would be something like the PS/ADR date calculator on another site.

It's not online, but go to www.caskbill.com and download Bill's DVC Planner software.

11/7-month windows is only one of the many features of this FREE software. It also adjusts the windows for days when MS will be closed due to holidays, weekends, etc.

The main benefit (IMHO) of the software is that it gives you the point values for each resort, for all seasons, for all types of accommodations, forever. That allows you to plan an entire trip, compare it to other resorts and accommodations, and even save the trip for future reference.

The software also can track your banking deadlines and a lot more. It's essential software for every DVC owner.

When you log into the DVC member website, they tell you what points you have to make reservations and for what dates (home resort advantage and 7 month point).

I love Caskbill's software too :thumbsup2 , but I don't think anyone has responded that you really don't need a calculator since DVC dates are months and don't act like PS/ADR dates that are days.

In other words, you count back the number of months from the check-out date, not a number of days. So if you check out on the 21st of a month, you can reserve on the 21st of the month 11 months prior for home resort or 7 months prior for all others.

I know that many people can't do math without a calculator, but we're talking pretty straightforward here! :)

For those using my DVC-Planner program, this is just to let everyone know that Version 2.0, which includes Animal Kingdom Villas, and now calculates points for any stays through the year 2057, will be available in just a few more days.

I'm doing the finish debugging operations now.

Lets hope they dont ever change any of the points weightings for the different days and months for you sake Caskbill:thumbsup2

Thanks Bill....waiting to hear that good news from you.

Hope a non-pc literate, like me, can add it to my existing one easily:surfweb:

BTW.......I appreciate ALL YOUR WORK !!!

MANY THANKS

Thanks so much for the info - please let us know when the de-bugging is done so I can download the program.

Thank you so much for selflessly putting in the time and effort to make vacation planning easier for the rest of us!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone and kudos to Caskbill. I will be looking forward to the new version as I am beginning to form a trip next year with the grand hopes of obtaining AKL.

Also just to clarify, yes I can count back 7mths/11mths but when there is something very specific that you are hoping for and throw in weekend days or holidays and then the fact that 7mths is not really truly exactuly 7mths when you factor in 30 vs. 31 day mths to get the exact day to begin booking it almost becomes a science.

Or just chalk it up to me being the Miss Martha of Disney planning......I take it as seriously as some take scrap booking or golf.:surfweb:

Thanks again!!!!

The rules at the end of the month can be confusing. The actual rule DVC uses (although even some MS CM's don't know it) is that if the corresponding checkout date does not exist on the 11/7 month call date, then you use the last day of the month, not the 1st day of the next month.

Using February as the best example, suppose you want to make a reservation at 11-months with a checkout date of Jan 30, 2008. The corresponding 11-month date would be February 30th, 2007 which is a non-existant date. So in this case you can call on Wed, Feb 28th which is the last day of the month.

Now if some year, Feb 28th would be a Sunday, then MS would be closed, and you would have to wait until the next day (Mar 1st).

This can occur whenever a corresponding date doesn't exist. Thus for any checkout date on the 31st of a month, if the corresponding date is in a month which only has 30 days, then you call on the 30th.

Of course this only occurs in these rare instances where there is no corresponding equivalent date in the 7/11 call-in month.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, users will have check-out dates on other than the 31st so it's only necessary to count back 7 or 11 to get the corresponding date. Thus if someone was checking out November 10th 2007, the corresponding dates to call MS would be December 10th 2006 (for 11-month windows) or April 10th 2007 (for 7-month windows). If either of those dates fell on a Sunday, the member would have to wait until the next day, Monday.

The exception of course is January dates with a checkout of the 29, 30, or 31st in which case at 11-months you call the previous Feb 28th (or Feb 29 in a leap year). At 7-months, only Jan 31st is special because you could call the preceeding June 30th as explained above.

DVC-Planner does use the above forumlas and also corrects for Sundays (it use to be weekends, but now that MS is open Saturdays, the program knows this), or holidays when MS is closed.
