reservation before closing?

This is probably a strange question, but here goes...is there any way to make a reservation before closing on our DVC resale? I would like to ensure we have a place to stay in April, but we will probably not close until October. W ould they let me make a cash reservation and then use my points instead once the closing is complete?

No, you can't make a reservation using your points until you are officially in the system, which I believe only happens after closing. And you can't "trade" a cash reservation for one on points, either. You'll have to wait until closing to make your reservation.

What you CAN do is make a cash reservation now, so you'll be assured of having some place to stay, and then cancel it once you've made your new reservation when you get your points.

would I make the cash reservation by calling the DVC number or the regular WDISNEY number? Thanks for the info

You would need to call the same CRO number you have called in the past to make reservations. Good luck on getting closed soon!

However, just to re-confirm...

If after you close, if there is no point reservation available for your dates, you can not turn your cash ressie into a point ressie. You will have a choice of keeping the cash ressie, or not having a place to stay in April. Cash ressies from CRO are a different room inventory than point ressies.
