Resellers

Has anybody purchased their points from a reseller, or had an experience with resellers? If so, how was the experience? I am considering purchasing points and noticed that the resellers are much cheaper (i.e. $80 from Disney versus $65 - $70 from the resellers, albeit different locations). Any information would be appreciated.

I have purchased three resales thru The Timeshare Store, plus one sale thru DVC directly. All were positive experiences, without any problems.

Disney is currently selling only BCV on site and HH and VB as offsite resorts.

OKW, BWV, VWL, HH and VB are all available thru resale and you can certainly find some savings by going that route.

The most common advice on this forum is to "Buy where you'll stay the most". You should also do the math for any purchase as resales will often have closing costs in addition to the per point cost- while DVC pays all closing costs as part of the point cost. Maintenance fees should also be considered and banked/borrowed points will also affect the relative value of the resale contract.

We purchased our original contract with The Timeshare Store, and then later purchased an add-on with them. We felt like we got the best deal for our money both times.

3 of our 4 contracts were bought resale.... We wanted both OKW and BWV as our main home resorts.... Only option was to purchase resale. We bought thru atimeshare.com (Jaki) and were very happy with her services. I have also heard good things about this site sponcer, but when we were in the market, Jaki seemed to have the contracts/price/UY we wanted....

As it was stated above THE most important desision for buying resale vs thru Disney is BUY WHERE YOU WANT TO STAY. If OKW rocks your boat..... or if VWL is your cup of tea.... then ya gotta buy resale....

There are many locations to contact for this info. I'd say there are 3 that specialize in DVC and about a dozen other alternatives to at least give a try. Good luck.
