Hi all, I'm investigating renting points at a WDW DVC resort for a week in early December 2009, with a strong preference for BWV studio - Boardwalk view. So I've been learning about the point charts and the point rental process, plus reading up on the resorts, especially BWV. Then I decided to take a look at the DVC Resort Availability

If I'm reading it right, there's no solid week of availability at any of the WDW DVC resorts I'd consider - BWV, BCV, VWL, BLT - for the first 2 weeks of Dec 2009.

So I guess if I wanted to stay in one of these, I'd have to shoot for Jan or Feb 2010?

This is my first time investigating DVC rental so I just want to make sure I'm not reading anything incorrectly...thanks everyone!

To really guarantee what you might want you really need to rent points from someone who owns at the DVC that you wish to stay at. And you need to basically do it so that you can take advantage of the 11 month booking window.

Right now, the only way to pretty much guarantee a BWV stay in the room and view you want would be to rent tomorrow from somone who owns there and stay sometime in May 2010.

That thread you saw isn't absolute. I read recently that you can't go back and edit, there's no "undo" to the posts. So someone who cancels and creates an opening can't go in and change it...and it's ONLY as good as the info Dis people (and of course all owners aren't Dis members) are given and decide to give. Don't go by that solely; it can be a guideline, but it's not absolute.

To really find out availability, you'll have to find someone renting their points for a price you're good with, and see if they'll call to find out.

The holidays fill up quickly. Booking 11 months in advance is the only guarantee that you will get what you want.

While the availability board is just a guide, and based on member's experience, you're really much too late to get a BW view at BWV for December.

December is, by far, the busiest month of the year for DVC bookings, and most members book their stays at 11 months out for that period. You might - possibly - find something at OKW or SSR, but probably not the resorts you're considering.

It does get better from then on out, so if you're willing to travel in Jan, Feb, or March, post on the Rent/Trade board, start working with a member, and see what's available.
