"Rescue Me" ***Official Discussion Thread***

I thought it was really good. Did you notice that Connor was at the breakfast table after the incident with his father. I love Denis Leary because of what he stands for with his firefighting charity. And of course because of being from Massachusetts.

My guess is that this season he will be haunted by Connor. The first season he saw the ghosts of those he couldn't save and his cousin. I thought that was very compelling. Being a firefighter/cop/EMT is a tough job. they see so many terrible things that I'm sure do haunt them in different ways.

Last season his trouble was more internal, and he was "haunted" by Jesus and Mary Magdalene, although before Connor's death I thought he came to terms with God a little. This season I think it will be Connor and Jimmy who haunt him. Maybe they can help.

I can't believe Janet!! :sad2:

I must be getting old, because I couldn't understand the conversation at the beginning of the show that Tommy was having with his daughter. I kept cranking up the volume, but it didn't seem to help.

Wasn't she telling him that she sees Connor too?

Huge fan here! I agree - Denis Leary is hot on this show! :firefight

My DH will very, very rarely talk about what he's seen. Especially the fires. :sad2:

Did you not just want to strangle Janet?? Tommy said, what about til death do us part and she fires off with, well I guess I must have been psychic. The death she's referring to being Connor's. I missed the first 20 minutes of the show because my dd was fighting going to bed at 9:00 p.m. Doesn't she know that Rescue Me is on?? Argggh!

Now, I'm confused about the end. Tommy was working on that little girl, did he get her back? I thought I saw the guys smiling? Didn't the little girl look up at him when he was first taking her down the stairs out of the fire or was that Tommy's haunted imagination? I figure he worked on her so hard because he was unable to save Connor.

Between Garrity and Tommy's sister and now Janet and Johnny, I figure this is going to be one hell of a season. I can't believe Johnny would betray Tommy like that. Uggh!

Hey does anyone realize that the brother was in the first season of SVU and Carrie's f**k me buddy in Sex and the City?

Yeah, about the end ... last night I thought it was his imagination when he talked to her on the stairs and that he wasn't able to save her with CPR. However, my sister and I just re-watched the scene a few times (thank you TIVO!) and now I'm thinking that he did save her. I thought there would have been more happy faces if she'd made it, but rewatching it I noticed a few things:

1) She appeared to be talking to her mom
2) The EMT looked really shocked
3) Lou looked at Tommy and then at the little girl as if he couldn't believe what he'd seen, like Tommy was amazing (Lou thinks Tommy is one of the best firefighters ever)
4) Garrity seemed to be smiling

I don't think all of these things are hallucinations on his part. I did at first think him talking to her in the building was, but now I'm thinking that he saved that girl. I hope so.

Uggh!

Sam, I just checked on TVGuide.com and they will replay that episode on Friday, June 2nd at 11pm. So, hopefully you can catch the first 20 minutes that you missed. :goodvibes

I enjoyed the episode and I laughed a lot. Right when Tommy's brother said he was tired of spending so much time going back and fowarth between him and Janet, I knew something was up. So I wasn't too suprised seeing them in bed together.

I knew something was up when Johnny was going to say something but stopped before he told Tommy to do something that I won't type cause after all this is Disney.

OMG, my husband and I watched the comedy short and just about died laughing. I almost fell on the floor. :rotfl2: So glad to hear someone else enjoyed it.

Thanks for the link! I was laughing so hard I was crying :rotfl2:

...as well as Oz. Dean Winters. Yummy. :lovestruc

I just saw the show yesterday a.m. and was entertained, as usual, but loved the ending. As far as I could tell, Tommy did save the little girl; obviously, nothing's gonna bring Connor back, but you hope that saving another child will be a tiny bit therapeutic for Tommy.

Can anyone tell me what happened during the last five minutes of this week's show? (show #3) I forgot to adjust my DVR to stop at 10:05 instead of 10:00 and I saw the Probie coming home to his apartment to a male roommate who handed him a beer, then sat down next to him on the couch ... then it cut out! What happened after that? Did they just sit there, or was there anything that might indicate the, uh, specific nature of their friendship? Did anything else of importance happen after that?

This episode was great. Kind of like old times. DH and I laughed hard at the Irish description at the beginning when Tommy explained beating up his brother. Also at the whole "Mrs. Turbidy" and "I need a sandwich" thing. LOL

The one guy got up and grabbed beer for both of them. Then he sat down next to Probie (rofl, what's his name!?!) and Probie smiled and put his head on the other guy's shoulder. That's how it ended....

Ah, thanks. So I didn't miss too much, just some insight into Probie's personal life. I think his name is Mike, by the way, but I'm not sure. I'll have to watch FX for previews for next week's episode.
