Resale vs Direct perks in CA/DLR?

Seriously considering buying in at VGC or VDH. I know blue card perks are almost nil right now, especially at DLR, and VDH is probably going to be close in price or cheaper than VGC resale.

Are the DVC perks worth it in CA? We do go to WDW as well but we can get FL res APs there so direct perks in FL are kind of a wash as well.

VGC resale currently seems to be in the $275-290 range. No way to know for sure, but most people anticipate VDH will be the same going rate as other actively selling (aka not sold out) resorts. Which is currently $207 but by the time it goes on sale I'm betting more like $215-220. Will there also be incentives to make it cheaper? Probably. But... you know the mantra - own where you want to stay. So if VGC is your heart, go for it. If you're equally happy then VDH gives you a longer contract, ability to book at Riviera (and possibly Poly 2) and is cheaper.

The perks at WDW are now few and far between and the perks at DL are close to 0. There's the merch discount and dining and that's about it. I think DL may have to increase  some perks when VDH opens to attract people but since there's not really resale competition, maybe they won't bother. I wouldn't buy direct for perks at DLR.

I bought VGC resale knowing it would be a more expensive purchase than waiting for VDH direct but my reasons were the following:

1. VGC studios have balconies. VDH doesn't.
2. VGC has some nice views. Best you can hope for at VDH is a pool view. The majority of the tower will face the car park, pylons, and suburbia over Walnut st.
3. Access to restaurants, lounges and bars.
4. It's the flagship and superior option. Cash rates are high.

My one DVC perk I used at DLR is getting a whopping $20 off my Dream Magic Key. 🤣 I've heard of DVC members getting dining and shopping discounts but my Dream MK is a better discount so I never bothered using DVC. Plus there's some glitch so DLR app doesn't recognize me as a DVC member like it does on WDW MDE. Hopefully this is something they will fix before selling VDH. We don't get discounts here on parties like they offer at WDW as well. I am keeping an eye out for Moonlight Magic on the West Coast though!

I own at VGC. We were debating getting VDH but instead went with Aulani. we love VGC but it is my favorite Aesthetic for a hotel and it just feels so special.
