Just to provide a bit more detail, if you own DVC--regardless whether via resale or direct--you can use those points at any other DVC resort. Whatever points you buy, also regardless of the method of purchase, can be used in the following manner: 11 months out at your home resort and 7 months out at any non-home resort. Those are immutable. Where the difference between recent resale and direct purchases comes into play are for things like discounts, special member events, and using points for things like a Disney cruise. As I do with anyone who is inquiring about DVC, I strongly encourage you to do your research before buying. It's a long-term financial commitment, and there are certain quirks about DVC of which everyone should be aware such as Use Year, the rules regarding banking/borrowing, point allotments, and point charts just to name a few.
