Just wondering how many of you have bought additional points through a resale site. I'm in Canada and would like to add on to my current DVC.
From what I have found, it would be cheaper going resale. I'm just nervous about not buying directly through the DVC.

All opinions appreciated!

I just finished adding on thru resale and had no problem. It took approx a month and a half from making the offer to the points being in my account. The the only concern I had was that the resale contract would be added to my existing account and not made into a separate account. But the good people on this board, and confirmed by DVC, assured me that if the resale contract was deeded the same as the original and the UY is the same, it would be added to my existing account. And they were right.

I don't know if living in Canada makes any difference or not, so I can't comment on that, but we recently purchased two resale contracts. One through TTS and another through Jaki. Both transactions went really smoothly. I was concerned about the second being linked to the first, but they told me to add my member ID to the final documents and everything was fine.

Good luck! :wizard:

We bought our first contract through TTS and it couldn't have been smoother - great communication from them and their closing agent. :worship:

We made our original purchase and one add on through resale from our home in the Vancouver BC area. As long as you stick with the major reputable resales companies there's no reason to be nervous.

We made both purchases through TTS and it does take more time but it is still very easy and smooth.

If I'm not mistaken, Canadians can only buy resale or directly from Disney in person in the US. I don't believe DVC is licensed to sell in Canada directly.

We've also used the Timeshare Store and highly recommend their professional service.

As long as you purchase through one of the reputable timeshare specialists, you'll be fine. The Timeshare Store, the sponsor of these DVC boards, is the most experienced broker, but they are not the only good one. I'm sure others will give you other names.

You should also know that Florida has exceptionally strict timeshare sales laws and very active regulation. Florida is probably the safest environment you could buy a timeshare in for that reason -- and if you're buying at WDW, you'll be buying in Florida.

I bought 2 through TTS - no worries. My first time, I was also concerned about doing a major transaction with a company I essentially found on the internet. But I read the boards and trusted the experts on the DIS. It all worked out just perfect. So when you find a contract you like, go for it. You'll save lots of money over direct.

Added on twice at HHI (original OKW buyer 1994 thru disney, when OKW WAS DVC!) in 2002 thru dvcbyresale and in 2010 thru TSS. Both were easy, quick and no problems....

We have added on at direct through Disney and just now added on via resale. We were going to go direct again but with the new price increase($105 pp including the incentive) we decided to look at resale. I only looked at contracts offered by the brokers recommended on the DIS. We found an AKV contract with the right amount of points 200 that included 200 baked '09 points all of the 201 and 2011 points and our UY (want to keep it all under one contract number) so we made an offer on 6/22 and Disney just waived ROFR today  We are saving over $4500 by going resale. Now we wait for closing. We are doing the happy dance :dance3:

It's a province by province issue. Disney is absolutely licensed to sell directly in some provinces.

Would not ever hesitate to do a resale as long as you are dealing with someone that is competent such as TTS.

We've done resale for our original and add-on contract. Smooth sailing both times. :)
