How long did it take before you found your perfect contract?

We are looking to buy this summer for a trip (booking @ 7-month window) next April at Aulani.

Our plan is to buy enough points for a studio every other year (50 points) and then transferring in the points needed for the Hawaii trip, and also for trips where we might want a 1BR.

Maybe after a few vacations of transferring, we might be able to decide if we want to add on.

We're really torn with home resort though. They all have their strengths & weaknesses.

We like the decor of BLT, the proximity to EPCOT of BCV, not to mention SAB, and the views/and/or low points of BWV, the extreme low value points of AKV, the THVs of SSR. We also like that OKW has low points across the board, and we like the holiday decorations of VWL.

I guess we have time to figure it out. Suggestions are welcome.

Depends on what location and what use year. We decided to buy at BLT but needed an August use year. We started looking last July ('10). Purchased direct in August. Finally saw a resale BLT in August for 100 points a month ago or so (Feb/Mar '11). Actually am in ROFR for a 50 point August contract that was posted on 3/18/11.

August use year is not a popular month at BLT.

But, given that it's not that popular, a contract coming along within 7 months of looking probably isn't bad. It's just with timeshares you don't want to wait once you've decided.

For me it took a few weeks. I was looking for an unusual number of points (60-70) so they aren't that common. I also am planning on going every other year in a studio and I didn't want to borrow from the future so I decided I wanted more than 50. I was not too particular about home resort either but just kept watching for the right number of points and the right use year. Good luck! :goodvibes

We looked for 3 months and there was nothing out there at all with our use year, number of points, and price in mind. Then, boom, there were 3! The funny thing is that we worked our way thru all three of them(one was sold before we could get to it and the 2nd we couldn't reach an agreement on price) until an offer was accepted by the owner. But finally a great deal and exactly what we were looking for!!:cool1: Hang in there and good luck!
