Resale Contract Deadline

I was wondering if anyone had the experience of purchasing a DVC resale contract where the sellers did not send in their closing docs by the contract deadline.

What did you do? What happened? Was the closing date extended? Anyway to be able to put a "Rush" of being added to the DVC system?

It's the responsibility of the resale company to work with the sellers to get the contract sold, so that's their problem, not your's. I had the same problem, and the resale company extended the deadline several times. Finally, we found out that the sellers were in a dispute with Disney over the cost of dues that they owed. The resale company even agreed to pay the cost in dispute, but we had waited 5 months for the resale, and it had points that were going to expire because of the wait, so we backed out of the deal. It just killed me, but letting 200 pts expire was "Over-the-top". There comes a time when you just have to admit that this particular contract wasn't supposed to be your's.
 
What does your broker/agent say? Have they been in touch with the sellers?

I know that we returned one of our contracts late by a day or two because we had a delay in our closing for our financing (bank's fault - not ours) - which meant that we could not send the check as originally planned. BUT - we called and emailed our broker so that she could let the sellers know that we were definitely committed to the sale and not to worry. All turned out fine.

I would check with your contact and ask them. They represent your interests in this deal - so have them work for you.

I left a message with TTS closing services last Monday on the 7th. I got a call back on Tuesday the 8th saying they would give the sellers a call. I didn't hear anything back so I called again on Friday, the 11th and was told that the husband had been away (on business I think) and would be sending the closing docs shortly.

Since today was the deadline and I didn't get any emails or phone calls, and they've had our check and closing docs for a full two weeks now, I called TTS after 3 p.m. eastern time and did not get a live person so I left a message and also sent an email. We were hoping to get an addon at AKV in time to make ressies for our October trip there. DVC sales told me that I would have had to add on today to be able to book when AKV ressies open up on Wednesday, May 16. So it looks like we're out of luck there. Also BWV and BCV are sold out for our week and I believe I read here on one of the threads that VWL was sold out for our week too. OKW would be okay and I really don't want to stay at SSR for this trip, but at this point we'll be lucky to get anything DVC providing there's anything left by the time we're in the system, and able to make a reservation. :surfweb: I guess I'll be checking my email often tomorrow and staying close to the phone.
