Resale contract buying strategy?

I've put multiple offers in over the last week on different DVC properties. I put in an offer this morning and am holding my breath. I don't expect to hear from anyone for a few days, but wanted to get that timestamp in since I offered full price plus a few bucks. Okey dokey...I have next year's trip planned already!

:bored:

UPDATE 10/9 Seller accepted offer. I was afraid there would be multiple offers since it is IMO a great price, but it was only online a few hours. Office shut down as expected so I guess I'll get papers next week.

I should have clarified in my original post that the 174 is just to round my total up to the nearest thousand point level, so a resale contract with 180 points is great; if I have to get 200 I might go for it if it's a good enough deal. I already have more than enough SAP with OKWe, so this foolish 174+ point purchase needs to be no more than $125 per point - that rules out anything direct. I hope to book the Tower penthouses with my OKWe SAP points at 7 months... time will tell!
Ahh this is definitely much more doable then. My slight OCD would want it to be an even 3000 so that’s why I assumed you’d want an exact number lol I would definitely go for CCV then- great resort with very good amenities and beautiful rooms, low dues, reasonable point chart, has a must-have resort priority season, 2068 expiration and you can definitely get a great price for it, for sure below $125 with a little patience.

Ok, more off topic, but the walls at CCVs are not up to par with sound proofing? Really? Like at the Grand? We stayed once at the WL but that was before the conversion of half the hotel to DVC. I don't remember having such issues. Did Disney just go cheap with the DVC side when they converted them over?

I’ve only stayed at CCV once but agree it was pretty bad - we heard virtually everything in the room next to us.

Good grief! This is the first I am hearing of such at CCVs. Grand Flo, I read such over and over. I bet when they built the WL, they built the walls as they should have. Minimal sound. But when they revamped half of it to DVC, they went as cheap as possible to pad thier pockets. Could I be wrong on this? Or spot on?

The complaints at VGf were there before it went DVC. My guess is that when CCV was done it wasn’t new.

I have stayed at CCV once and didn’t notice anything unusual regarding notice.

Maybe it was just luck of the draw. We heard every clearing of the throat, conversation and television show. On the plus side, it didn’t make me at all concerned with any potential kiddo noise coming from our room but it was noticeable. 🤷‍♀️

Can I ask why people recommend CCV around Christmas? Do they go hard on the Christmas theming? Just curious why it’s harder to book around that time.

Experiences seem to vary quite a bit - even at BPK. Last time I stayed there next door to a family of four and heard next to nothing. Maybe the insulation is not consistently bad but some rooms are worse than others?

It’s unbelievably magical. I visited CCV for the first time last year during the holidays and purchased my first resale contract as a result! You have been forewarned…! 🤣

Maybe. I too didn’t experience anything earth shattering when I was there for the one night.

That’s why I don’t think it was a purposeful decision to cheap out simply because of DVC.

Haha SAME. Visited early December last year, fell in love and came home and immediately bought a contract. We’re there for 10 days in early December, not sure I’ve been more excited to a trip lol 🤩

@Road_Dog, it’s lovely all year round but it just feels so special at Christmas. Grand Floridian and AKL are also particularly incredible at this time of year, too, and I don’t necessarily think WL goes any harder on decorations than those 2 resorts. But Wilderness Lodge just feels like it was made for Christmastime. It’s like old Christmas movies and nostalgia idk maybe I’ve romanticized it in my head but it feels really magical to us.

I’m excited for you…even as I’m typing this I can smell the gingerbread!!

The previous owner of our FW contract opted out of this year’s December week so we’re going to try GFV this go around…though I feel like we’ll be spending a lot of time at WL regardless 😍

Did you all just talk me into staying at my home resort I hadn’t really planned on ever staying at?
Honestly - CCV FAR exceeded my expectations. I am so partial to Crescent Lake resorts that I thought I’d spend our time there wishing we were at BWV but we absolutely loved it. I’m all set on points (for now, ha) but if I needed more I’d buy another CCV contract to exclusively use there!

Ooo that is pretty nice consolation though! Honestly, it’s so pretty in there I don’t even care if it’s busy. I completely understand why everyone wants to visit the resorts during Christmas, cause we do the same. And literally the smells of these lobby’s is the real addiction we made along the way😂

Is BRV the same in terms of feel? I know you're not in the lobby proper but would you say staying at BRV is more or less the same or do you really need to be staying CC for the true Christmas vibe?
