Resale borrowing glitch still there

Looks like the issue of borrowing from your resale points wasn't addressed in the last systems maintenance. I saw a room that I wanted became available this morning but when I tried to book, the system would not allow me to borrow from my resale points. I had to call MS with a 90 minute estimated wait time. The room was gone in 30 seconds. What exactly did Disney fix the last 3 days I wonder.

DVC has not commented on purpose of the maintenance. Anything posted on these boards was pure speculation.

I know everything on this board is pure speculation. Was just hoping that this was one of the things Disney had addressed is all. Don't think it's too much to ask that members be able to borrow points from the next year with a simple mouse click instead of waiting on the phone for 90 minutes.

This is a significant issue that should of been addressed in the days long down time. If not now, then when? Is this some way for Disney to denigrate resale owners?
Agree! Perhaps Disney will start using this as a "perk" to advertise blue card membership? Make it so difficult for resale members to make us want all our points to be direct? I don't think Disney will ever want to fix it.

I will say I’ve had this issue on a non-resale contract, though it did have the same use year as a resale contract.

I have resale points and did not have issues with borrowing. While resale points seem to be the bulk of the problems, it is not all contracts.

It seems that it’s account dependent which is why it’s strange that some od us have no issues and some others do.

I too Was hoping this fix would be addressed.

The maintenance was likely a migration of some sort, either to a new platform and/or a physical move. Code updates don't take 2 days.

I'm grateful it mostly works as well as it did before. I logged in out of curiosity and have only found 2 new glitches (so far).

Good to know. It happened with my membership that has both direct and resale points in the same UY. For some reason, the system would not allow me to borrow the points from my resale contract to modify an existing reservation. It would have me basically cancel my existing reservation to rebook entirely with my resale points, which would have put my direct points into holding since its within the 30 day window. Oh wells. Better luck next time I guess....

Maybe they don't know how to fix the IT, but it wouldn't burn as much if the remedy for fixing was a 5-10 minute call to MS. I thought (and I'm sure someone here knows better than me) there was an email a few months back saying they recognized the response challenges and were staffing up MS. Does anyone recall that?

Yes and they did hire more staff. Things were better especially after the ticket deal ended in May.

It seems it’s busier again but we had the glitch a few weeks ago that increased the wait times again.

I only waited 20 minutes last week which wasn’t bad at all. It’s hit or miss.

Agree that it’s very annoying, however to note, it’s prevented me from using more points this year, which in turn allows me to save up more points for next year. Could that be their MO here? Not allowing certain contracts to borrow so that less are able to borrow and flood the system with even more available points to use this year.

I was told last month that anytime you have a resale contract and need to borrow, you have to call MS. It's a crazy policy, especially since resale dues pay for that website. What's next? Resale contracts can only book reservations in person at the (to be buillt) DVC reservation center?

I wonder if there would be grounds for class action on the basis of discrimination? Your right. Resale owners pay the same dues as direct owners… there should be no discrimination between the two when it comes to booking property. A glitch in the website would be understandable if they were making valiant efforts to correct the problem… which they clearly are not.

I have had a similar thought - basically resale owners with this issue are being prevented from utilizing the product that was sold to them as in many cases there isn’t time to wait on the phone before the room is gone from inventory.

At what point do you know that you cannot borrow points? I have resale and never had a problem borrowing in the past.

To be fair, relatively yes, but in a normal world, 20 minutes is abysmal.

Pre covid, I agree. Now..no one I ever call is a short wait. Heck..I had to call American Airlines when there was an issue with my flight connection last week heading to MCO. It was midnight and the wait was 3 1/2 hours. The only plus is they have the call back system.

Not understanding why MS can’t have that at least during day hours.

But that’s not quite accurate because it is not all resale owners and points.

No one knows why it doesn’t work for some and no one understands why it can’t be fixed when so many owners don’t have any problem at all.
