Required Passport date change?

Has anyone else read about the date change announced by the gov't to Dec 31, 2006! I read it briefly in the local newspaper yesterday. I previously needed passports for our cruise 5/6/2006. Now I am not so sure? The date change could mean a big savings$$$ for me. Anyone else hear anything?

I heard they moved the passport requirement till 1/2008.

The 2008 date is the target date for all foreign travel for passports. The 12-31-06 date mentioned is correct.

Any word from Disney on whether THEY will require the passports before the official deadline?

I have personally talked with DCL and they told me a number of times that they WOULD NOT require them unless the govt. did. I've asked 2-3 times when I've called for other questions. When I questioned them about the possiblity of any change they said that they would notify us if passports would be required only IF the govt. required them.

There have been other posters who have called since this last change and they were told that they did not need them.
