Required car seats for children?

We are in the process of plannig our first trip to Disney with young children (ages 10 months and 2 at the time of our trip). We plan to use Magical Express to get to Disney, stay on site, and use Disney transportation. What child restraint devices/car seats will we need for each portion of the trip (i.e. on ME and then at Disney)? Even if the seats are not required, what would you recommend bringing? Alternatively, would you just rent car seats locally?

There are no carseats allowed on the ME and other disney tranportation. The only place you would be able to use them is on the bus. Barb

No car seats are needed. In fact, even if you had them, you wouldn't be able to use them..there are no seat belts on any of the buses! Most people, with little ones, have no issues at all on the buses. But, in the event that you feel you have to have your children in car seats, your best bet would be to rent a car.
But, again...the buses, both in WDW as well as DME buses, are incredibly safe.

You will not need car seats for either child if you stick to ME, and Disney transportation on property.

If you use a cab at all, they will need seats.

We are using ME and Disney transportation on our trip next month (dd-6yo and ds-2yo) and we are bringing ds' car seat for the airplane and packing a low back booster in our luggage for dd. DD's booster is a "just in case" item if we need to travel in a vehicle for an emergency, etc. We are planning to place ds' carseat under the bus on ME and then just storing it in our room while at the resort.

I would bring car seats for both kids for use on the plane... and then store them during your stay at WDW.

As I just posted in another thread, we used the Cares Harness (an FAA approved device made from seat-belt material that used the plane seat belt to make a 5-point harness) for our 3.5 year old GD. It was great not having to lug a seat through the airport. She felt like a "big kid" and we appreciated that she was protected more than if we had just used the plane seatbelt, and we didn't have to store her carseat while at WDW.
