Is a crib and a highchair usually considered a request? When I made my reservation I requested non smoking for medical reasons, then first floor. On hearing the age of my youngest child MS then asked me if I wanted a crib and highchair to which I replied yes. On receiving my confirmation letter my requests were listed as Non smoking, then highchair, then crib and finally first floor!! Is this usual?!!

I don't know about the order, but I think each "home" has a pack and play crib in it. I would imagine the high chair is a special request but the main ones are location and non-smoking. You can always call and ask MS about the order. Good luck!

I wouldn't even sweat the crib and the high chair "requests"........when you get there and get checked in, just call "Mousekeeping" and ask for one of each.........They'll bring you a high chair that you can keep in your room for the entire stay........and with regards to the crib, every room has a pack and play, but if you would like a regular crib, "mousekeeping" can provide that as well..............at least they did for us on our last 2 trips..........I think they mentioned that the regular cribs were based on availability, but I believe that they have enough high chairs to feed an army of kids..................Anyhow, don't sweat it..........

Thanks everyone. I wasn't too worried about the crib and highchair not being available if not on my request list - I only said yes to those when MS mentioned it and didn't expect them to actually be put on my reservation confirmation. But I would rather not have my first floor request being down the list at #4!!! I would like some chance of getting that one, to make it easier with the pushchair and tired small children!!

One note about the cribs...

The sheet that comes with the crib is NOT fitted. So if you have a restless sleeper, or just want to play it safe, bring your own fitted crib sheet. (I'm always worried that my DD will wrap herself too tight in the sheet and suffocate.)

If you choose to use the Pack n' Play (which is in every DVC room) bring a sheet for that, too. They do not supply one.

We've requested a crib that past 3 visits and it usually arrives in the room shortly after our luggage along with a highchair. It definitely helps to confirm your requests a few days ahead of time.

P.S. You can also request bed rails.

DVCDawn - Can you tell me what size the mattress is in the crib? If my fitted sheets are the right size I will definitely pack a couple of those too, in case I get lucky!!

I just pack a set of what fits my crib at home -- standard crib size -- and they work fine. For the Pack n' Plays I pack Pack n' Play sheets. I also bring my child's favorite baby blanket, too. That AC can get pretty cold!

Just to check DVCDawn, but is what you call a crib what us Brits call a cot - for an infant up to about two years? To us a 'crib' is only suitable for a baby up to a few months old!! I have fitted sheets in both sizes, but my DD will be 15 months when we go and probably wouldn't appreciate being all squashed up!

By the way, I think what you call a crib, we call a basinette. Hard to believe we both call this language English, isn't it?

Thanks for the clarification Granny - that looks like a "cot" to me. As for our cribs, I've heard them called basinettes over here too, but I think they're what we also call moses baskets! Oh boy!! Anyway, just some useless information for all you good people!

Bexx...I would not worry about the first floor thing if I were you. We were there last week. I had requested a "high up" floor so the view would be better and the road noise less. We got 4th floor, as well as all of my other requests ( dedicated 2 bedroom, non-smoking, 2 queen beds in the other room.) I did not request a certain view but we had a great view of SE and the fireworks. If you do not get 1st floor try to be near the elevator, which by the way was nice and super fast. We were far from the elevator but our 4 kids are all old enough to make the walk. Have a great trip.

Thanks laceemouse - I appreciate your thoughts. I'm not bothered about first floor for our first three days at BCV (or a particular view for that matter, I'll just be so grateful to finally get there!!). But I think it would be useful at OKW. My younger DD will only be 15 months and my friend, who is on kidney dialysis, would probably find it easier not to have to climb stairs at the end of the day. It's not essential to the enjoyment of our holiday, unlike our non smoking request, but it would make life simpler.

d-r. Don't know about the cribs at OKW - I'd be interested to know for certain too. Maybe by me bumping this thread up yet again, someone will be able to tell us!
