Requesting Servers

Quick question ..... Does anyone know where and when to request a server? Do I ask my TA, call DCL or ask at the port?

We asked DU to request Katarina from Croatia for our Wonder cruise in February. After boarding, we went to check on the request. As it turns out, Katarina had left for her vacation just a week before

We were initally dissapointed, especially as it apperas DCL was trying to accomodate us. However, when we arrived at dinner that night, our sever Richard cleary knew about our request. He claimed to be Katarina's husband, and charmed us from that moment on!

You can start with your travel agent and they will make the request for you. But sometimes they aren't able to arrange it up front. So when you board also go where you would to change your dining room assignment and they can tell you who your servers are. And if the request has not been honored you can try and change it there. We did this the last time we sailed and they were very happy to accomodate us. And check your information page that you receive upon boarding and it will tell you where to go for dining assignment changes. We did it at Sessions but it could be different now.

We've played this game many times, many ways. Our TA makes the initial request. I've followed up with an e-mail to DCL. I've gotten a reply that they can't accept a request for a server due to vacations, etc.....

So, on our last cruise, I asked the head server the best way to do it. He suggested that we do what we've always done--go to Dining Changes after boarding and put in the request. He said that requests received thru Celebration sometimes don't make it to the ship, but if we request on board, they will do everything possible to accomadate us.
