Requesting Rooms at the VGC?

Can you request a particular type of room when you check in to the Villas at GCH? I am renting points from another member through a broker and wanted to try and get a park view. Anyone have any experience with this?

You can have them put it in the notes that you want a Park/Pier or Pool View but it is still no guarantee, I would also ask for a higher up floor too so that you have a view of some fireworks (from the pool side) or a nice view of the Pier/WOC if you get the park side. I have only stayed twice now but each time we got the same 2 bedroom unit (4500) which is a park view, which we love, but the pool view does seem very relaxing and if higher up you can see the fireworks.

Rooms are already assigned by the time you check in. If you want to put in a request you have to call MS (same people you call to make a reservation). Although, I read on a thread on the DVC boards that they are no longer taking room requests so YMMV!

In my experience, MS will note your request, but will not guarantee your request. Since there are a few DVC villas at the GCH (the reason why the previous posted got the same room twice), too many requests will be very difficult meet. For me, there two requests that are important for me when I stay at the VGC. They are a higher floor (above 4 and higher) and park side vs pool side. I only pick one to request and the one that is more important to me for my visit. That way I have a better chance of getting a room I will enjoy.

BTW, the higher floor always wins out. I rather be sure of having a view of the fireworks (pool side) or of DCA/WOC. Which side I get adds to the surprise element of which room will we be in. In the past we have stayed at the GCH at twice a year and the VGC are proving to have the same vacationing habits. We LOVE the VGC.

Thanks for the info everyone. I will try to request a higher room if possible. Either way, we are looking forward to the visit!

I had never done this before in all of my traveling... but when we got into our room it was ground level. It was park side, but you couldn't see anything. We were only staying one night for a spendy 40 points and thought what the heck we can ask... We called to see if anything else was available and they were very nice. They checked and there was another available studio...... a cast member met us and took our old keys and gave us the new ones. We were no longer ground floor but but didn't have view of the pier.. we had a view of the Grizzly playing area and a corner of the pool.

So it doesn't hurt to ask once you're there!

That is one of the reasons why I love the GCH and VGC. The nice little touches and great service make this an outstanding hotel. I once when I stayed at the hotel for a special event for the Haunted Mansion, I didn't receive a bill for incidentals on the day I checked out. When I inquired about it, they said, "No worries, Special Events took care of it." I then remembered that I had told Special Events that this occasion happened to fall on my and DH anniversary. You just got to love the little things Disney does.

We got a 2 bedroom and a studio for our trip in June. I made a request that they be close to each other when I made the reservation and we were given rooms right next to each other. We were on the ground floor, but were facing the park. We were able to see from Mulholland Madness to Maliboomer.

We are going to celebrate our anniversary, so hopefully there will be some wiggle room :) These posts are all very encouraging!

We stayed in July on a friend's points. Based on the recommendations from these boards (Gotta Love the DIS!!) I had our friend request: high floor, theme park view. We got exactly that! In all our trips to DLR and WDW since 1997 it may have been the best view yet! There is just something about being above the hussle and bussle of DCA. For some it may not be their thing, it was amazing to us and we LOVED IT! If you want to try a particular view I would say go ahead and ask for it to be put on your reservation. Of course it is never guaranteed, but it certainly can't hurt to let it be known. ;) Have a Great Trip!! :goodvibes
