I am very new to DVC so I need some help. We are planning on going to WDW 2/18/12 for our school vacation week. We have offered to share our points with family members as my niece will be graduating from High school in 2012 :cool1:. So I will need 3 studios. We are owners at AKV. Do you think it is even feasible that I would be able to get 3 value rooms?

Also when we can switch at the 7 month window, we are thinking of trying to request BWV or WLV. Do people even think I would be able to get 3 studios at the 7 month window? I don't know how busy school vacation week is for DVC. I am pretty sure we could look at OKW b/c it is larger, I just was hoping for a smaller resort.

I love AKV, but the points are actually cheaper at BWI or WLV for the time we are going if we don't get the value points room.

Any thoughts/opinions/ideas/???

Thanks,
Tracy

If you own at AKV, why would you wait until the 7 month window to book? The only way you would have a chance at 3 value studios would be right at 9 AM of the 11 month booking window.

I am going to book at the 11month window for AKL. However, if family wants to try for another resort I didn't know what chances I would have at that point to find 3 studios.

I also don't think I would be able to get 3 value studios at the 11 month mark but was wondering if anyone else has ever had that opportunity.

Someone here has mentioned that they reserved 5 value studios for their family at the 11 month mark. So, getting 3 is possible too! There are some dedicated value studios, so there are more than just 10 available.

It sounds like you are considering 3 standard view studios at BWV at 7 months. The odds of getting 3 of them at 7 months are not good, but you have nothing to lose by calling when MS opens at exactly 7 months out. Good luck!

You are going to have a great time regardless, be flexible with staying at other resorts to get your multi room booking needs met. I was able to book four studios in the same week at Saratoga last Summer.

Thanks for the info. At least it gives me hope. I am just not sure if all family members would like AKL as they aren't animal lovers like myself, however, if they are getting a free room they shouldn't complain or care :lmao:.

What is a dedicated studio anyways?

Dedicated studios are studios that don't connect to 1 bedrooms. They can only be booked as studios.

Studios that are lock offs connect to a 1 bedroom to create a 2 bedroom.

Some of the dedicated value studios in Jambo have a closet.

This is so helpful. Sounds like we will be able to get the 3 studios at AKL...maybe not value but at least standard. Then at the 7th month point if I can get 3 somewhere else for less points then maybe I will switch at that time.

I would take a shot at the 3 value studios at the 11 month mark at 9am. If you call right away I think you have a good shot--the time of year you are looking at is not too too busy so it might be fine! If you want a standard studio at 11 months, that will be a breeze!

As far as switching, I don't know if you'd be able to get BWV standard studio at 7 months (those are so hard to get no matter what time you go) but if you are open to possibly preferred or boardwalk view (more points) then you may be able to get it. And WLV the same, though I had an easier time getting that than the BWV standard. Good luck!

If you are going to go for the AKV standard studios, note that at Jambo all of the studios have 2 sinks in the dressing area, but at Kidani, the studios only have 1 sink for the bathroom. There is still the sink in the kitchenette, but I really like the 2 sinks in the dressing area.

I was thinking Feb. is busy b/c up north it is school vacation week and falls into presidents day. I may look into BWV boardwalk view if the points aren't too much. It will depend on what rooms (value vs. standard) we get at AKL as to whether we stay there or not. I just think the rest of the family would prefer BWV's proximity to Epcot, but like I said they are getting a free room so they should not complain.

Ahhh I see! Yes that weekend will probably be a little crazier. I would definitely still try...if you are willing to pay a higher point value, you may be able to find the rooms. When we've checked in the past at several times of the year at the 7 month mark, BWV standard was never available for the whole stay that I needed, but the boardwalk/ preferred views were. Also depending on the dates that you need, I would look into beach club studios as well if you don't mind the point values (they are similar to the BWV preferred usually). And just for reference, if you wanted to try for WLV, they are actually very similar in point values to BCV and BWV preferred, so you can try all of them at 7 months if you decide!

Thank you! I am just a huge planner and this will be our 2nd time going at DVC members (first time is this summer at BCV:cool1:) so I am still new at trying to figure this all out! Someday I will be a veteran and not so worried about all the choices I have to make :). I do have to be aware of the points though so I will be crunching numbers to see what will work best. However, if I need a few more points I like that they have the one time use option points in case I need them so I should be ok in that aspect too.

This just helps me know that I may have options in case I need them.

I called at 9 am this morning and was able to get 3 value rooms at AKL (sorry to anyone who couldnt' get one). So I guess it can happen:thumbsup2
